00:00The government runs on limited financial resources, hence every peso it can muster from taxpayers

00:05is crucial in the execution of its programs and projects for national development.

00:11And to reinforce this reminder, the president in today's launching of the Bureau of Internal

00:15Revenue's ramped up tax collection campaign warned tax evaders they will be held into

00:20strict account should they persist in shirking their responsibility as citizens of the republic.

00:26Under his leadership, the Internal Revenue Agency has hit the highest collected tax amount

00:31ever with a 2.86 trillion net haul last year and is setting its sights on an even bigger

00:37amount this year.

00:38Among its priorities this year, the BIR seeks greater digitalization of its operations and

00:44services for greater customer convenience.

00:46A mass awareness campaign on the significance of taxes and intensified collection to curb

00:52taxpayer evasion.

00:54In every lifetime of our fellow citizens, we do not only serve our countrymen, we also

01:03build a prosperous Philippines.

01:07They fund our schools where our children learn, they support our healthcare system, they maintain

01:13our roads and infrastructure, they are investments in our shared future.

01:18We will hold those who continue to circumvent our system accountable.
