00:00At this point, let's go back to Christian Bascones' report regarding the declared National Food Security Emergency. Christian.

00:09Yes, Alan. The Filipinos are close to feeling this cheap rice.

00:15This is in accordance with the declaration of the National Food Security Emergency on Rice by the National Food Authority yesterday.

00:21The National Food Authority agreed with all participating LGUs across the country

00:27to immediately send the allocation to them.

00:30It is estimated that 150,000 metric tons of rice will be sent to local governments.

00:38The NFA will sell the rice to LGUs for P33 per kilo.

00:44And the LGUs can sell it to those who can afford it up to P35.

00:50The NFA expects that it will start selling next week.

00:56The Department of Agriculture assistant secretary, Engineer Arnel De Mesa,

01:01who did not declare the DA of the Food Security Emergency on Rice due to the lack of stocks,

01:07but due to the high prices in the families.

01:12According to the NFA, compared to the first recommendation of the National Price Coordinating Council,

01:17which is P38 per kilo, it was lowered.

01:21He explained that the price will be lowered so that the NFA can have a space for storage

01:27as a preparation for the upcoming year.

01:31In the latest update of the NFA, 53 villages in the NCR were identified by the agency

01:38and they are waiting for other confirmations of other LGUs to implement this.
