00:00Back to being the head coach of the national fencing team,

00:03Rolando Amat Canlas Jr.,

00:05who was the former team leader from 2016 to 2022,

00:09who is expected to be a guide to the countries that will play

00:13as a preparation for the 33rd Southeast Asian Games in Thailand.

00:17In spite of the challenges from other countries,

00:19Canlas chose to stay

00:21to serve the country again

00:23because he believes that Filipinos have hope

00:27to be able to compete with the best fencers in the world.

00:31Canlas admitted that there is a big challenge in the upcoming SEA Games,

00:34especially that the Philippines did not win the gold medal

00:37in 2023 in Cambodia.

00:40Canlas is also the coach of the Filipino fencer Samantha Catantan

00:44in the 2024 Paris Olympics,

00:47where the athlete's knee was injured again.

00:50In spite of this, the Philippine Fencing Association expects

00:53that Catantan will return to his original foundation

00:57and will remain one of the strongest fencers in the Philippines,

01:01along with Nwoye Lito Hsieh in Men's Ipe.
