Nike CEO on investing in women's sports after $28 million Caitlin Clark deal

Nike CEO Elliot Hill told Fortune that Nike is "making some big investments around women."

00:00I think we already see the impact of the WNBA and then the impact that women's sports is having

00:05around the world. And why I believe we were able to get to the space where we got to is if you go

00:12back to the structure that I talked about earlier, let's take basketball in this specific case,

00:16where we start with sport, the game of basketball, and then we go gender next.

00:20When we were running just basketball, we never got to the women's opportunity. But by having

00:25this small team that's focused on women's basketball, it unlocked, we believe, opportunities

00:32for the game of basketball. We already saw it making movements because of the great performance

00:36these athletes were having. They were inspiring people to watch the women's game, but also in

00:41product. And so whether it was Sabrina and her shoe now, I think it's the number two shoe on the

00:47men's game, but Sabrina's shoe, and Asia's shoe, and now Caitlyn's shoe. And so we believe the

00:54women's game, specifically in sport, unlocks another opportunity of growth for us. And so
