00:22across the Potomac about 8.47 p.m. with an aircraft in flames falling rapidly.

00:28Flight 5342 for American Airlines had departed from Wichita, Kansas.

00:34Police said multiple agencies were involved in a search-and-rescue operation in the Potomac

00:38River, which borders the airport.

00:41CBS News reported that at least 18 bodies had been recovered so far, citing a police

00:46official.

00:47NBC reported that four people had been recovered alive from the river, while The Washington

00:52Post said multiple bodies had been pulled from the water.

00:56American Airlines confirmed that 60 passengers and four crew members were aboard the jet,

01:01while a U.S. official said three soldiers were aboard the helicopter.

01:05The National Transportation Safety Board said it was gathering more information on the incident.

01:10U.S. President Donald Trump, in a second statement, called the crash,
