00:00Mike Vrabel is the head coach of the Patriots.

00:02We knew that last week.

00:03Ben Johnson was named head coach of the Bears this week.

00:06Aaron Glenn goes back to home in the Jets.

00:10Liam Cohen says no to Jacksonville,

00:13gonna stay in Tampa.

00:15Then they fire the GM and now he's a yes for Jacksonville.

00:19Funny how that worked out.

00:20And then the biggest one I think,

00:22you know, look, Ben Johnson to me on that list stands out.

00:25But the most interesting one of the week is Pete Carroll,

00:29who is at the end of this thing gonna be like 76 years old

00:33if he makes it through,

00:34as far as staying with the Raiders is concerned.

00:37I think George, if I had to guess,

00:41is he probably did a fantastic interview with Mark Davis.

00:45He's a great, great energetic guy in person, fantastic.

00:50And I'm guessing George,

00:52the way the Raiders looked at this is like,

00:53look, he's probably not the long-term answer,

00:57but all Pete Carroll teams are generally okay.

01:01You know, like Pete Carroll doesn't coach a five

01:03and 12 team in the NFL.

01:05So I think the Raiders are kind of hoping like,

01:08all right, let's just get back to respectability.

01:10He's got good experience, of course,

01:11with different quarterbacks in the NFL,

01:13Drew Bledsoe, Russell Wilson.

01:15So I look for the Raiders, I don't mind it.

01:18And it gives the players in that locker room,

01:20I think somebody to look up to too,

01:22knowing that this guy won a Superbowl as well.

01:25Yeah, you're definitely more a,

01:26you're the optimistic guy on this show.

01:28I'll be the pessimist here.

01:30A, you're in a division with Pat Mahomes,

01:32Justin Herbert, and Bo Nix.

01:34You don't have a quarterback.

01:35All right, I don't know who it's gonna be.

01:37You're not gonna draft low enough,

01:39or high enough, depending on how you look at it,

01:40to get one.

01:41So good luck there.

01:42This is a major rebuild.

01:44And you're hiring a 72-year-old coach.

01:47I find this strange all around here.

01:50Now, don't get me wrong,

01:51I agree with everything you said about Pete Carroll,

01:52high energy, great coach.

01:54A good guy to get.

01:55The Chicago Bears, apparently he was in second place.

01:57All right, they didn't hire Ben Johnson.

01:58They were going after Pete Carroll,

01:59which I think might've made more sense there.

02:02And Jerry Jones actually talked to Pete Carroll yesterday,

02:04right, or Thursday night.

02:06We heard that.

02:07That's how sure Jerry was about shot time.

02:09He went up, talked to Pete Carroll.

02:10And I imagine Carroll said,

02:11ha ha, I'm not dealing with you.

02:13You know, not happening.

02:14So I just find this a strange spot because of the age.

02:18I think Carroll would be great for a team

02:20that's ready to take that next step.

02:21It's a contention.

02:22The Raiders aren't that.

02:24All right, this is a major rebuild here

02:26that even in the NFL, if you do everything right,

02:29three years?

02:31I mean, three years, and that division's rough.

02:32You guys, you've got franchise,

02:34you definitely got God Mahomes.

02:36You and I may even, you know,

02:37going back to the Mahomes being a Hall of Famer,

02:38he's a great quarterback, all right?

02:40Herbert, all right?

02:42He's not Mahomes.

02:43He's not that far behind.

02:44And it looks like Denver has a franchise guy in Knicks.

02:47You have nothing.

02:48I mean, literally nothing.

02:49Who's your quarterback?

02:50Russell Wilson?

02:52You know, are you trading for Geno Smith?

02:54I mean, I don't know, Craig.

02:55I just find this weird from the age perspective.

02:57By the time you turn it around,

02:59it'll be time to get another head coach.

03:01I just, I don't get this.

03:04Yeah, I don't know.

03:05I think that it can happen.

03:07I think that they could turn.

03:12That's my only problem with Pete Carroll

03:14is that I don't quite understand the age thing.

03:17I think he'll be fine.

03:18And listen, as a Cowboy fan,

03:19I do wish that he would have been

03:21chosen over Schottenheimer here.

03:23But I said, Craig, for me,

03:24I just go back to the age thing.

03:26That worries me.

03:27That by the time he, maybe he does turn it around,

03:29he might be 75, 77.

03:31You know what?

03:32You know what I think, George?

03:33I think, look, you made good points about the quarterbacks,

03:36although Herbert at this point,

03:38I don't know that I would be grandstanding on that guy

03:41based on what I've seen.

03:42But that being said,

03:44I think you're setting your expectations way too high.

03:47Like, what did you really think

03:48the Raiders were gonna be next season

03:50if Pete Carroll comes in

03:51and does 70% of the job that Sean Payton did

03:55and takes the Raiders from,

03:56I don't know how many games they won.

03:57Did they win four?

03:58I don't even remember, four or five.

03:59If they get to seven wins

04:01and then get to 10 the next year,

04:02I mean, that would be fantastic.

04:04And I think the other thing that you're missing, George,

04:06absolutely missing,

04:08is that you and I both know

04:11that it is the end of January.

04:13Let me look at the date here,

04:14because I don't know exactly.

04:15The 25th of January.

04:17By the time we get to the 25th of February

04:21and then the 25th of March,

04:23there is a quarterback that you and I

04:27and no one else is talking about

04:29that's gonna go in the top 10.

04:31It's gonna happen, man.

04:32Like, this is a whole,

04:33and everyone is gonna say, franchise quarterback.

04:36It happens every year.

04:38I mean, Bo Nicks.

04:39I mean, we could do this every single year with these guys.

04:41Jordan Love, you may remember in the past too.

04:45Is it Jackson Dart?

04:46I'm not saying it is,

04:48but that's the kind of name, George.

04:49I'm telling you now,

04:50the Raiders will draft

04:51and have their franchise quarterback,

04:53and it is not anybody that we're talking about right now.

04:56This is a fact.

04:57So, I'm not like in a tizzy about that.

05:01I just don't think that,

05:04I think you're seeing things the right way.

05:06I think you're setting your expectations way too high.

05:08Like, I don't think Pete Carroll's going there

05:10knowing that this year they're gonna win 12 games.
