Sal Capaccio: This Bills team is "ready for this"

Sal Capaccio explains why he believes the Bills are ready to slay the dragon and beat the Chiefs in Sunday's AFC Championship Game in Kansas City.

00:00I keep thinking about this team and how this team's ready for this.

00:04I don't know if it's going to turn out they're going to win. Of course not, right?

00:07They could go and we could have another heartbreak.

00:09It could be a few bad bounces, bad calls, whatever.

00:13A couple turnovers that are uncharacteristic.

00:16I just feel like this team compared to that team and where each is,

00:20this one for the Bills is so much...

00:22It's ready for this moment and this time to be in this position.

00:28I like the way I've seen this development all week.

00:32In my own head, if that makes sense.

00:34Do you sense a difference at all in the attitude and the confidence

00:40of the players that have been a part of those losses

00:44as opposed to some that maybe haven't?

00:46That would mostly be rookies.

00:48I mean even beyond last year, Sal.

00:50The AFC title game in 20 and then the 13 second game.

00:54Not a lot or I should say a lot.

00:57Maybe it's just not all.

00:58How many of these guys have actually been around for all of them?

01:00Right. I was listening to Khalil Shakir yesterday

01:03and I'm thinking he wasn't even here for that 21 game.

01:06He wasn't on the team yet. He wasn't drafted.

01:0822 was his first year. This is his third year.

01:13So I'm thinking right because he was drafted later that year.

01:16There's a lot of really core players who just haven't been a part of it.

01:20That was three years ago now and four years ago for the last time

01:23the AFC championship and Von Miller wasn't here.

01:26A lot of the core guys who were here are not here anymore.

01:31I know that Micah has come back on the practice squad

01:34but no Jordan and Stephon Diggs and Gabe Davis

01:37and Mitch Morse and that group.

01:39Even go down to the depth of Saran Neal and guys like that

01:42who aren't here anymore.

01:43Do I sense something different, Joe?

01:45I think only in this way which is the Bills really have taken

01:51this week-to-week approach all year.

01:54It's not that they haven't in years past

01:57but you really get the sense that nothing has changed

02:00this week when it comes to that.

02:02They're just really approaching this game.

02:05They have every single game all year trying to go 1-0

02:08as Josh always says.

02:10I know you can't quantify that. I get it.

02:12They all know what's on the other side.

02:14Spencer Brown had the quote of the week.

02:17have you thought about the two extremes of winning and losing?

02:19He said, one will be a really big celebration.

02:21The other is me with a 24-pack by myself.

02:23They know.

02:25Then someone else on Twitter joked and said,

02:27I guess that means 24-pack by yourself either way.

02:29Celebration. That's what it is.

02:31I love that.

02:33I know that they understand the gravity of it.

02:37They really do.

02:39But I just feel that they have taken this really calm,

02:44collected, deep exhale approach to every week

02:48and they're not tight and wound up

02:51and thinking about these games in years past

02:53and these clips that you played and things like that.

02:55I think that's healthy.

02:56I think that permeates from a lot of the stuff

02:58we've talked about with Sean McDermott

02:59specifically over this past year to be honest with you.
