I'm down at Troon front beach and I've come down here for a bit of exercise. I'm going
00:16
to walk today from Troon to Barrissite and back. I'll see the cam before the storm, so
00:21
we'll see what light tomorrow brings if it's going to be a lot more wilder. I don't think
00:26
I'll be driving down to Troon but I will check to see how it is and if it was just a wind
00:31
I would still go out and walk but if it's going to be heavy rain and storms then I'll
00:36
probably stay in the house. There's a lot more storms especially into winter, it seems
00:41
to be lasting longer and it's probably down to global warming. The weather's definitely
00:47
changing, we don't get the summers we used to get. Years ago we didn't get these big
00:52
long storms, maybe one or two, but now we're definitely getting more. When I get up in
00:57
the morning I'll check the weather forecast and see how it is, what it's saying and then
01:02
if it wasn't too bad I still might go out and walk but if it's going to be severe weather
01:07
I'll probably just do something at home and stay in the house. It's definitely important
01:11
to make sure you're well wrapped up. I've got on about four layers a day including a
01:17
waterproof jacket. There's no point in going out if you're going to get soaked and the
01:22
wind going right through you. I think people do definitely check the weather forecast to
01:26
see when these storms are coming. The problem is that we get told that there's going to
01:31
be a storm and then it doesn't materialise for some reason, it's not as bad as they're
01:36
making out. Red is severe so if that's the case then I would expect this place to be
01:43
you know, waves coming right over the walls. So I don't think there'll be any boats sailing
01:49
out tomorrow. My daughter's just messaged me to say her school's closed tomorrow as
01:53
are many schools in and around Glasgow and Scotland. I suppose there's weather forecasts
02:00
and there's weather forecasts, I'll start by looking out the window and see if it's
02:03
actually came to fruition. I'll think about where I might walk my dog and where I might
02:08
not walk my dog. Probably not go in amongst trees which I would normally do if there's
02:12
high winds. And yeah, get the fire on, hunker down, watch some television with the kids
02:18
because they're not going to be at school. I don't know so much in Scotland if the weather's
02:23
changed dramatically. I suppose I always think that giving storms names tends to make people
02:30
more aware and more anxious about them. Again, meteorologists have a job to do and weather
02:36
forecasters have a job to do on television, it's all part of the news. And I do think
02:40
giving them names makes people more concerned about the weather. I don't see that winter's
02:50
changed that much, it's probably not as cold throughout the winters in Scotland and maybe
02:56
not as much snow and ice. Well I'm actually a bit worried about it because I came here
03:01
to collect a new set of bagpipes, I'm due to play at a number of Burns Suppers next
03:06
week and so my plan is to get back to Cambridge tomorrow evening. So from hearing the forecast
03:14
I'm beginning to get a bit worried about whether that's actually going to happen or not. I
03:18
was going to fly here, so we'll see what happens. Even if it begins to calm in the evening I'm
03:23
worried that the planes will all be in the wrong places so we'll just wait and see what
03:28
happens I guess. I think it's difficult to point to any single weather condition and
03:33
say that that's got something to do with climate change but there's absolutely no doubt
03:37
in my mind that when you look at the totality of it all, what's going on in Los Angeles
03:43
with fires and the floods and so on, there's no doubt in my mind whatsoever. And the global
03:47
temperatures increasing year on year, no doubt in my mind that that is all part of a set
03:53
of man-made weather change.
