00:00The goal of a hiker is not to summit, but the base camp of the highest mountain in the world, Mount Everest.

00:14But it's not a joke that it's as high as two Mount Appos.

00:18Let's check it out with Marie Zumali.

00:24As the song goes, there's no mountain high enough, even if it's Mount Everest.

00:29In 2006 and 2007, some Filipinos and Filipinas were able to reach the top of the highest mountain in the world.

00:39And for every mountaineer whose target is to reach the top, they need to reach the Everest Base Camp or EBC.

00:45JM reached there last year.

00:48When I launched Everest Base Camp, I was the only one.

00:53What I do as a non-climber, non-professional, that's my only end goal, to reach the Everest Base Camp.

01:02It's not a joke that it's as high as 5,300 meters above sea level,

01:06because it's equivalent to the highest peak in the Philippines, Mount Appos.

01:12It took more than a week to prepare or acclimatize to endure the altitude,

01:17not only the cold, but also the difficulty in breathing due to the low air pressure.

01:22In addition, you have to prepare the right clothes.

01:25It's a 12-day hike.

01:27There are accommodations as a stopover with comfortable and delicious food.

01:32Even if you can't reach the summit, the view of Everest and the Himalayan range is still rewarding.

01:38You need a strong will.

01:40Once you reach the end point, the base camp,

01:44tell yourself that it's all worth it.
