Hawaii's Kilauea spews lava in a new eruption on Jan. 15 and 16, 2025. This marked its fourth eruptive phase since it came back to life in late December. Intermittent lava activity has been observed in the crater at the summit of Kilauea since the volcano reawakened on Dec. 23. The Hawaiian Volcano Observatory said it was possible the lava fountains' height would increase as more gas-rich lava reaches the surface.
