00:00Bureau of Internal Revenue met its 2024 collection target of 2.848 trillion pesos,

00:06exceeding its goal for the first time in two decades, the Philippine News Agency reported.

00:11BIR Commissioner Romeo Lumagi expressed his gratitude to the BIR staff.

00:16The final figure will be confirmed by mid-February and is expected to increase.

00:21He credited the success to reform's focus on improving taxpayer services,

00:25digitalization, and strengthening enforcement, including the fight against fake receipts.

00:31Lumagi also emphasized the importance of cooperation

00:34with the private sector and taxpayers in reaching the goal.

00:38While the BIR reached a lower target in 2020 due to the pandemic,

00:42this is the first full collection target met in 20 years.
