01:09Patrick Mahomes right now with Kansas City if they win a third straight Super Bowl

01:19This team is now built differently and it's built to where he makes plays on third down

01:25He makes plays in the red zone. He keeps the defense in a spot where they can support him

01:30They run the ball a little bit. They have a great tight end

01:33and so if he wins

01:35It's not really because of him like if Baltimore and Buffalo and I'm fascinated by that game

01:41It feels like it's gonna be a QB versus QB

01:44But it's really not like you just said

01:47Buffalo's got a great running back and so does Baltimore and so it might come down to things other than

01:52This quarterback against that quarterback

01:54But the net the networks are gonna bill it Josh against Lamar and we're all gonna talk about Josh against Lamar

02:03They call the MVP ball, which is so stupid because all of this is complimentary football Brock last year was better than he was

02:11This year because well, he was better but also because of 17 other things better line better coaching better weapons

02:24And so if you want to just look at Brock versus Brock, yeah, he was better last year

02:28But this year they were better. And so I do think that coming off this weekend

02:33I'm more focused on that part of it like Justin Herbert

02:38He wasn't good, but they were just as bad as he was or worse, right? I could argue. Yeah

02:44Yeah, or worse, I mean so that's kind of the thing like these pinning the wins and losses solely on the quarterback

02:51I just think it lacks a lot of context. It's I'm not saying it's unfair. Look I get it. They make 58 million dollars

02:58So whatever boohoo, they've got to deal with Twitter. That's fine. I don't really care about that

03:03I do care about it though when as a football fan of any particular team

03:08You're assessing who you want as your quarterback

03:12This is the way I would kind of look at it because we do this where it's either okay a

03:19have they won a Super Bowl and

03:21Then the next tier is kind of like do you feel like they could win multiple Super Bowls?

03:25And then the next year is do you feel like you can win a Super Bowl?

03:29And then there's the guys where you're like, no, I don't think they could win a Super Bowl to me Brock is at minimum

03:36He's in the they can win a Super Bowl, right? He's having the one my gosh he came

03:41I don't know how to like measure this but seemingly inches from winning what he would play

03:47He went to overtime of a Super Bowl and had a lead in overtime of the Super Bowl

03:54So like he's at minimum one of those guys

03:57And if that's how you feel if that's the category you put him in and I'll give you other names

04:02So it won't be so damn offensive because when I use the word elite six months ago, I'm still getting tweets about of course

04:08but if I'm gonna put him in the same boat as a Jared Goff as

04:12A Jalen Hurts, these are you know?

04:14These are other people who have been to the Super Bowl and lost a close game Joe burrow

04:19I would put yeah burrow I burrow they went to the Super Bowl, but he's clearly better than Brock

04:24I would put him at the same level as Matt Stafford now, right?

05:01I would argue it's gonna be because of a defense a running game a wide receiver

05:07I don't think that he's gonna be a guy who goes out there and throws for 370 and wins the MV

05:16They win it it's gonna go more in that category than it will in the category of you know

05:25He's hard to assess because I actually think that the likelihood is is he's not gonna win the Super Bowl or even go to the

05:33I think he's got a good shot to win the game tonight

06:22And we wonder how you like how did this weekend maybe reassess or change your thought on?

06:32for me, it's this like

06:35You've got to expand your view on who you want as your quarterback. I don't think you can function in the NFL

06:42I know you're supposed to strive for greatness, and you're going for the Super Bowl

06:46That's all true, but if you're only satisfied with Lamar or Josh

06:52Then I'd argue you're likely to spend the next hundred years

06:55Looking for a good quarterback. It's okay

07:00To have one of the next guys that is a good thing. That's not a bad thing

07:06You don't have to have the best guy in the world at the position

07:12You can have one of the top 12 guys at that position, and I'd argue. That's a good thing

07:19It is therefore worth the money that it costs and we all know what it costs

07:25It's on the Niners to structure it in a way, so it doesn't hamper what they're doing long term

07:30And it doesn't hamper their ability to put people around them

07:34And I believe they can do that because that's what they do they do it very well

07:38Yeah, and but if you want one of those guys

07:41you're lucky to have one of those guys one of those guys a guy who can go out there and

07:47Play well enough in the playoffs to win you the Super Bowl and Matthew Stafford's a great example where he was good in Detroit

07:53For a long time, and he was probably a top eight or a top ten guy

07:58He put up good numbers

07:59And they weren't usually very good and then he went to LA and he had a great team around him

08:04He was experienced and he won the Super Bowl and that's okay to have that guy and you look at the other Super Bowls around him

08:23So Brady is number one all-time my homes is number

08:45So if you think that Brock Purdy can be a guy good enough to win in that spot

08:50and he was as you mentioned an inch away a play away an overtime period away a

08:56coin toss

08:58Handled correctly away, whatever that was. He's that close
