00:00This was till 80s and 90s then neglect of the crop by local governments there
00:07and the UPA government here because of a lot of negligence the prices dropped for
00:15various reasons. After Mr. Modi took over SPM, his export policy and after 2019
00:24during his second term SPM, more initiatives were taken, more robust
00:29activity of on turmeric was initiated. So definitely farmers since a couple of
00:37seasons and now this season also three seasons consecutively they are seeing
00:41very good prices.
00:42And what will be the budget of this turmeric board?
00:45That I cannot tell you right away. We will definitely try to increase the
00:49activity. We are also, I can understand there will be a good research center
00:57also coming up. So all these, now this work has begun, a separate exclusive
01:03board for turmeric has been created. So definitely the future of turmeric crop
01:07in India will have a wonderful way ahead.
01:12So last BJP and the central government, the PM Modi has fulfilled and promised
01:19like fulfilled his promise. So do you believe that in next election in Telangana, next
01:24election, do you believe that you will get like vote share or any benefit because of this?
01:30See whatever activity Mr. PM, Mr. Modi has initiated in this country in
01:38agriculture sector, not just turmeric, even your MSPs have increased beyond
01:45comparison to UPA or Congress governments in the past. There's no comparison. MSP for
01:51all 23 crops has increased many folds. His export policy has helped farming
01:59agriculture community. There were a lot of like Kisan Rail logistical support
02:06which was extended towards farming community. Not just turmeric, even your
02:11paddy, your fruits, your vegetables have been moving around the country much
02:17freely compared to previous years.
02:21Lastly, do you believe in turmeric board inauguration?
02:23But the BJP party and the central government has fulfilled this.
02:27And this is a 38 year old fight, 38 years agitation, farmers fight
02:34since 1987 when turmeric was added into spices board. Since then farmers of my
02:40area that is Nizamabad in North Telangana have been agitating and in
02:442019, 178 turmeric farmers filed their nomination for the Lok Sabha which
02:51Bharatiya Janata Party won. But they have procured about a lakh votes in that
02:56altogether, 178 members together. They secured almost 1 lakh votes. They all
03:04supported Bharatiya Janata Party this time in 2024. See when you do, when
03:09somebody does good to you, you will obviously be thankful to him. So I on
03:14behalf of entire farming community especially Telugu states, turmeric
03:18farmers, I wholeheartedly thank Mr. Modi and request all of them to you know
03:26extend their blessings to our Honorable Prime Minister.
03:31Sir, how do you see this turmeric board inauguration tomorrow and who will inaugurate and what time?
03:36This is the dream of farmers since 1987 for almost 38 years. On the day of Sankranti festival,
03:44Mr. Prime Minister gave us this honour especially in Telugu states,
03:51including Indore, Gaddamida, Central office, turmeric board.
03:56I wholeheartedly thank Mr. Modi on behalf of the farming community.
04:02For the past 37 years, we have been working for the turmeric board.
04:07Especially in 2019, 178 farmers got nominated.
04:13At that time, I gave them a written promise.
04:18After that, for the turmeric, we took a lot of action.
04:22By the spices board, reducing imports, increasing exports,
04:27increasing transportation and other activities,
04:32we have seen an all-time record rate of Rs. 5,000-6,000.
04:37Last year, we saw an all-time record rate of Rs. 18,000.
04:42Since the turmeric board is inaugurated every year,
04:47we have done a lot of hard work.
04:52We have done a lot of marketing activities.
04:57We have done a lot of research on turmeric.
