कोल्हापुरातील एड्स बधितांच्या आयुष्याचं झालं सोनं, गेल्या वर्षंभरात 47 जण मुख्य प्रवाहात

कोल्हापुरातील एचआयव्हीसह जगणार्‍यांसाठी कार्यरत एनकेपी प्लस संस्थेकडं असणार्‍या नोंदीनुसार सध्या सुमारे 47 मुले, मुली शिक्षणाच्या प्रवाहात आलेली आहेत.

00:00District AIDS Prevention and Control Board is the board which is working in CPR.

00:09They fully support the program of Kolhapur's HIV AIDS.

00:14They provide medicines or the staff or the people who have been registered from the beginning,

00:21they get the various facilities, mainly medicines.

00:24So, our work is going on in this way.

00:27In the beginning, if a person feels that he is HIV positive,

00:32then definitely we go to the ICTC, Integrated Counseling Testing Centre

00:36and see what is the report after the test.

00:39But if the work does not stop here,

00:41if there is a negative person in him, how can he remain negative all his life?

00:44And if he is positive, then what should he do next?

00:48He is sent to ART Centre for medicines.

00:50And today, almost 14,000 patients,

00:54we do not call them patients, we call them clients.

00:57These patients are living a good life by taking medicines,

01:02the way BP and diabetes patients live.

01:07Now, if you see here, the children, when they were small,

01:10there was a time when both the parents were positive.

01:13The elderly people used to stay in the house,

01:15they used to bring the children, the children were positive.

01:17These children are now grown up.

01:19There are many of them.

01:21There is an organization called NKP Plus in Kolhapur,

01:25Network of Kolhapur People Living with HIV.

01:28We come together and provide them with many types of facilities,

01:31such as social benefit schemes,

01:34guidance for education, help,

01:38stigma and discrimination.

01:40If there is discrimination, we go there and advocate for them,

01:43explain to them.

01:44This is how the work is done.

01:46Today, we saw that almost all the children

01:51are getting some kind of education.

01:54I am proud to say that one of them has become a doctor.

01:58I just remember one case,

02:00she came to me, I do not take her name,

02:03I call her a fictional name, Anita.

02:06When Anita came to me, she was pregnant.

02:09She came with her mother-in-law,

02:12and her baby was delivered.

02:15During the delivery, she found out that she was HIV positive.

02:18She tested her husband and found out that he was already HIV positive.

02:21She was very sick.

02:23She passed away.

02:25Her mother-in-law took care of her like a daughter.

02:27She used to bring the baby and examine it regularly.

02:29Sudhaivani took the baby,

02:31and later it became negative.

02:33But her education was only 12th standard.

02:35She used to give 12th standard exams and got married.

02:38But after that, she committed suicide three times.

02:42She was counseled in different ways.

02:45Her mother-in-law also supported her.

02:48Her mother-in-law also passed away due to cancer.

02:50But she supported her.

02:52So she took education after 12th standard.

02:54She got B.Ed. and M.Ed.

02:56Today, she is a teacher.

02:58She is a permanent teacher in the school.

03:00We met her yesterday in our program.

03:02She got married again.

03:04She got married through our organization.

03:08She is HIV positive.

03:10Her second child is HIV negative.

03:12She is living a good life.

03:14She is very happy now.

03:16She got MBBS.

03:20Actually, I got B.M.S.

03:24There are many more examples.

03:27We have a doctor who got B.M.S.

03:30He is still taking further education.

03:32Since her childhood,

03:34the society criticized her.

03:36Her parents died young.

03:38Her parents died young.

03:40So her parents taught her.

03:42But her confidence is like a shield.

03:44I think we should show respect to the society.

03:46We cry every time.

03:48But we are not wrong.

03:50Even though she is HIV positive,

03:52she took medicine.

03:54She got a marriage proposal.

03:56But she gave priority to education.

03:58She gave priority to standing on her own feet.

04:00She took education in this way.

04:02Today, she has become a doctor.

04:04She is still taking further education.

04:06What is the aim of this year?

04:08The aim of this year's AIDS Day is

04:10to take the right path.

04:12The person who has to face

04:14stigma and discrimination,

04:16the society should think about it.

04:18They should help to spread the message.

04:20They should give strength.

04:22They should not be afraid.

04:24They should think about their rights.

04:26They should think about how they can stay safe.

04:28We are ready to support them

04:30through the AIDS Control Organization.
