00:00Hi, I'm director Rachel Abigail Holder, and my movie Love, Brooklyn is my directorial

00:10debut, which is premiering in the U.S. Dramatic Competition at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival.

00:17I've been a storyteller since I was small.

00:19Growing up, I'd write plays for hours on my family's computer.

00:23Often I'd get in trouble for still being at it at 4 a.m.

00:26What first drew me to the story of our movie is its timelessness and its humanity.

00:34Even though the script, when I first read it, didn't physically on the page have characters

00:37that looked like me, I saw myself in it.

00:40It was written by Paul Zimmerman, who is decades older than me and about his younger years.

00:44When I read it, I saw the story in the present day and with people who look like me.

00:49Love, Brooklyn is about three people who live in Brooklyn as they navigate the changes in

00:54their relationships, careers, and the gentrification of their city.

00:57It stars Andre Holland, who also produced the film, Nicole Beharie, and Delonda Wise.

01:04When you watch this film, my hope is that you will feel like you spend time with these

01:08people like flies on their walls.

01:10The specific perspective of these characters that are not commonly explored in a film like

01:14this will make you feel familiar feelings like you're watching your favorite romantic
