00:58Tabla originated in Delhi Gharana and after Delhi Gharana, Tabla came to Lucknow Gharana.

01:14In the era of the Nawabs, the capital of the Nawabs was in Faisabad, Uttar Pradesh.

01:19When the capital of the Nawabs came from Faisabad to Lucknow,

01:23Nawabs from Nawab Wajid Ali Shah to all the Nawabins gave Tabla to the musicians.

01:29And Lucknow Tabla Gharana has achieved an important identity.

01:40and how is Lucknow Tabla Gharana making its name and how are we seeing it in the future.

01:48Gharana is a word that is made from the word Ghar.

02:25He was in Faisabad in the era of Nawab Shujaud Daulah.

02:32And when Nawab Shujaud Daulah built his capital Lucknow in 1775,

02:38all the musicians and fine artists of that time came to Lucknow.

02:48And Bakhshu Ji also came with them.

02:51Bakhshu Ji established Lucknow Gharana in 1775.

02:56There are a lot of opinions about Tabla.

03:00First of all, there is Nikas.

03:14The baaj of Lucknow Gharana is known as Sur Ka Baaj.

04:28But in sangat, we have to see what the other person's demand is.

04:48Sangat is very important.

04:50Lucknow gharana is such a gharana,

04:53that people can't play tabla without playing it.

04:58There are six gharanas in Lucknow.

05:03Delhi gharana, Lucknow gharana, Ajradhara gharana,

05:07Parokhabad gharana, Banaras gharana, Punjab gharana.

05:10But all these people are playing Lucknow gharana.

05:14Let me tell you one thing.

05:17It is a compulsion.

05:19The first gharana was Delhi gharana.

05:28In Delhi gharana, the baaj was of two fingers.

05:33It was a beautiful baaj.

05:38It had no strings.

05:40It was a ready made baaj.

05:42But the hands didn't have much freedom.

05:47But when the Lucknow gharana was made,

05:51ten fingers of the hand were used.

05:55Delhi gharana didn't have this.

05:58Because of that, we felt our hands were more free.

06:02Now all the gharana people are using ten fingers.

06:06Gharana, we basically belong to Lucknow gharana.

06:11Right now, we are in our 14th generation.

06:16In Delhi, Sudar Khan Sahib, his grandsons,

06:20Makku Khan Sahib, Bakshu Khan Sahib, Modu Khan Sahib.

06:23So, two brothers came from Delhi gharana to Lucknow gharana.

06:27At that time, Faizabad used to be the capital of Lucknow.

06:30So, we are coming from the generation of Bakshu Khan Sahib.

06:35At present, we are here.

06:38My brother, Ustad Ilmad Sudar Khan is here.

06:41His sons are here.

06:43My daughter is also playing baaj.

06:45So, this is how we are moving forward with gharana.

07:39He used to play in all the gharanas.
