There is a lot of new infrastructure in Jalmark, be it JT or a terminal.

The Prime Minister has studied the rivers in India.

He has given us strength by giving the national Jalmark to 106 rivers.

And today, more than 20% of our national Jalmark is being developed.

From 1986 to 2014, our cargo handling capacity was only 18.1 tonnes.

In the last 10 years, our cargo handling capacity has increased to 133 million metric tonnes.

You can imagine the transformation that has taken place in this sector.

In the national Jalmark, only Rs 1.5 billion has been invested.

But in the last 10 years, more than Rs 7 billion has been invested in this sector.

Because of this, the entire infrastructure has been modernised.

As a result of all these projects being successful,

whether it is a cruise, a passenger or a cargo,

we have advanced a lot in all three verticals.

Therefore, in order to move forward on this issue,

we have formed the Indian Waterways Development Council.

In order to make this a reality,

the Indian Waterways Development Council has gathered in Kaziranga, Assam for the second time.

As you all know,

in the inaugural session,

in the 21st state of the country,

we have invested Rs. 1,400 crores in the project.

The Prime Minister of Assam, Dr. Himanta Biswa Sharma,

who was the main guest in the inaugural session,

and with his help, we have successfully completed this project.

And in the presence of the Chief Executive Officer of our 21 states,

and our Honourable Minister of different states,

our project has been successful.

And in the next few days, we have taken many decisions

so that we can strengthen this sector as much as possible.

And by 2030, we hope to increase our cargo handling capacity in the Indian Waterways

to 133 million metric tons,

and to 200 million metric tons.

in order to modernize all the facilities,

we will invest Rs. 50,000 crores in this sector.
