00:00The Agriculture Department will start implementing the maximum suggested retail price for imported rice on January 20, 2025.
00:12According to DA Secretary Francisco Tio Laurel Jr., the MSRP was set at Php 58 per kilo of imported rice.
00:24The price is the result of a thorough consultation of the DA along with importers, retailers, rice industry stakeholders, and other government agencies and law enforcement bodies.
00:39It will first be implemented here in Metro Manila and will be reviewed every month to study some factors such as the price of rice in the friendly market.
00:52Ms. Laurel added that the MSRP is far from meeting the needs of businessmen and not of consumers and farmers.
01:02Trade and Industry Secretary Cristina Roque congratulated the support of DTI to the DA to lower the price of rice in the market.
