00:00He composed his last prabandham called Thirunadunthandakam and presented it in front of Sri Ranganathan.

00:09Sri Ranganathan asked him for any wishes he had.

00:13At that time, Thirumangayalvar said, this Perumal, that is Sri Ranganathan, has to hear

00:18Swami Nammalvar's Thiruvayimuzhi for ten days in this Adhyayana Utsava Kaalam.

00:24Thirumangayalvar presented this beautiful wish and Sri Ranganathan approved it.

00:29Swami Nammalvar, who was born in Alwar Trinagari, which is in Thoothukudi district, was brought

00:35from Thoothukudi to Srirangam every year before Swami Ramanujacharya's period and this Utsavam

00:42was happening with Nammalvar from Alwar Trinagari or Thoothukudi.

00:47After that, after Swami Ramanujacharya's period, this issue got dissolved and a new Nammalvar

00:55was placed in Srirangam itself.

00:58This event, which was started by Thirumangayalvar, was later dropped due to periods.

01:05At that time, Swami Nathamunikal, who is the great Acharya and a Sishya of Swami Nammalvar,

01:11who came much later, restarted this Utsavam with Pagalpathu as well.

01:16In Pagalpathu, along with Thiruvayimuzhi, Swami Sri Ranganatha hears other Rivya Prabandhams

01:24as well.

01:25Thirupallandu, Periyalvar Thirumuzhi, Thirupavai, Nachiyar Thirumuzhi, Perumal Thirumuzhi, Thiruchandavirutham,

01:31Thirumalai, Thirupalliyazhichi, Kanninunsiruthambu and Amalanathipiran, alongside Thirumangayalvar's

01:38Periyathirumuzhi.

01:39After these 20 days are over, Iyerppa, the rest of the Divya Prabandhams by Alwars are

01:44sung in that one day.

01:47The 11th day of this festival, called Vaikunta Ekadashi, is the most important day.

01:52On that day, Sri Ranganathan, coming out of his Garbhagraha, enacts as a simple Jivatma,

01:59who is a Muktatma, coming out and reaching Sri Vaikuntam.

02:03He crosses Vrajanathi, he enters the Paramapada Vasal and enters Thirumamani Mandapam, like

02:08a Samanya Jivatma.

02:10That is what the context of Sri Paramapada Vasal.

02:14And from then on, Thiruvayimuzhi is sung by Arayars in front of Sri Ranganathan and the

02:20festival goes on as a beautiful event and ends with Nammalvar reaching Sri Ranganathan's

02:27Thirupadi or Lotus Feet.

02:29And that is the context of this Thiradhena Utsavam, which was started by Thirumangayalvar

02:33in Srirangam and now followed all across the Divya Deshams.

02:39Ekadashis in general are very auspicious in Srivaishnava Sampradayam.

02:44Srivaishnavas used to keep fasting on Ekadashis.

02:47The most important Ekadashi of them is Sri Vaikunta Ekadashi, that is today.

02:53On this fine day, Sri Ranganathan comes out of this Paramapada Vasal, opening it only

02:58once in a year.

03:00And for these ten days, this Paramapada Vasal is kept open for Srivaishnavas, for Bhaktas

03:06to get over and get over with their Karmas and reach him, reach his Lotus Feet in Sri

03:12Vaikunta.
