Coram UK invest in Shropshire creating new jobs with a new warehouse.

Coram Showers used to have there warehouse in the Leicester area, but have now moved it to Bridgnorth creating six new jobs along the way. Its on the Stanmore Business Park.

00:04Well I'm Paul Gatfield, I'm the head of manufacturing here at Bridgnorth.

00:07And this is Coram UK?

00:09Coram UK.

00:10Coram.

00:11And what do Coram UK do?

00:13We specialise in wet rooms and bathroom solutions for the healthcare and retail market.

00:19Yeah and how long have you had a presence here in Bridgnorth?

00:2225 to 30 years now.

00:24Wow okay, good going.

00:25And it's kind of good news isn't it really that the business has expanded?

00:30Yes it has, back in June last year we made the decision and we're backed by the Dutch owners

00:36to bring the warehouse back from Leicestershire to Bridgnorth.

00:39So that's secured another six jobs and it's made the whole place more cost effective,

00:44sustainability improvements and environmental improvements as well.

00:48Great stuff.

00:48So this bit behind you, this was previously used by you but not in a warehouse capacity, is that right?

00:55It's like a production capacity, it's like an assembly, nuts and bolts assembly, things like that.

00:59So production shifted over the road and your warehouse, is it what we're talking, is it doubling in size or?

01:05Well we didn't really have a warehouse on site at all really, it was all shipped

01:10to Leicestershire so we're also improving our carbon footprint.

01:13Yeah yeah.

01:15So what's Coram UK doing so well then?

01:19They're obviously doing things right.

01:21Are you kind of, where do you fit in the scale of things on a national level?

01:25We're a big player, we've got some strong brands in retail, healthcare and merchant markets.

01:30Yeah.

01:30Been about, well-known brand, particularly Impy's probably our strongest and best known.

01:36Yeah.

01:36Wet room solution, so anything healthcare, retail related, accessories as well,

01:42which we stock hundreds of different accessories.

01:44Yeah.

01:44Toilet brushes to toilet roll holders and everything.

01:47Okay.

01:48Yeah, it's like the complete solution for a bathroom.

01:50Yeah.

01:51And so you say it's Dutch owners, do you see much of them?

01:55Yeah, a fair bit, they come, they visit, I mean it's a different business.

01:59They're all, they deal in the same industry as us, but obviously in Europe

02:03there's other parts to the group as well, there's a German and Nordic part,

02:06so it's up, but we're all slightly different.

02:08And anything that brings jobs to the area is always good, I mean like you touched upon there,

02:12so you managed with the expansion of the, well we're bringing the warehouse over here,

02:16six new jobs for the area.

02:17Six new jobs, warehouse manager, admin role and some pickers and a supervisor,

02:21so really happy with that.

02:23Great stuff.

02:24Well, we wish you onwards and upwards.

02:36So you were two of the new lads then, that have been took on board.

02:39Yeah.

02:39Where have you come from then lads?

02:41Yeah, I'm just from outside Wolverhampton, so not too far to travel.

02:43Cool.

02:44I'm from Workville, outside Brickstall.

02:47And are you settled in?

02:49Yeah, it's great, yeah, really like, really enjoy it here, yeah.

02:51Yeah, yeah.

02:51Really good.

02:52Anything that brings jobs to the areas.

02:54Great, yeah, nice to come to Workville.

02:56Yeah, and that's a fancy bit of kit, isn't it?

02:58It's a bit of an unusual forklift truck that, isn't it?

03:01Easy.

03:02I struggle just with the handheld ones, you know,

03:04and you turn them one way and the wheels go the other.
