00:26We bear this legacy with great privilege and with great responsibility.
00:35It's not just about conducting an event continuously for 20 years.
00:40It's about growing something into a nationwide movement.
00:51Every 90 seconds today in India, an amateur runner ties up his shoelaces and hits the
00:59road for the very first time.
01:02Today amateur running is the fastest growing sport in India.
01:10Something truly remarkable for a country that didn't run as recently as 20 years ago.
01:17Tata Mumbai Marathon has been that catalyst which ignited the running revolution in India.
01:30So many, so many peaks scaled.
01:35If you talk about participation, we had 15, 16,000 in year one and now we shut almost
01:41as soon as it opens at 60,000 participants this year.
01:46A new record.
01:48If you talk about charity, we raised 42 lakhs in year one, 2004 and 2024 raised 72 crores.
02:03If you talk about economic, social health impact, we did a study thanks to the Indian
02:07Institute of Sports Management and the economic, social impact of the Tata Mumbai Marathon
02:14in 2024 alone was 367 crores.
02:2115,000 people coming into Mumbai from outside Mumbai, staying here for two or three days,
02:29spending on entertainment, shopping, sporting merchandise.
02:35It is truly something that moves the needle.
02:43It reminds me of the words my brother Anil had said some time ago and I take recourse
02:47to those words now.
02:49He says I can recall the mix of emotions Vivek and I felt when planning the very first edition
02:54of the event.
02:56Our belief and conviction to give India a platform that is much more than a sporting
03:01event, a panacea for society.
03:05Two decades have passed, yet every moment of this incredible journey feels as vivid
03:11as yesterday.
03:13To witness the ripples of change this race has created is humbling and the change began
03:19here with each and every one of you contributing to the success of the Tata Mumbai Marathon.
03:28All these figures I rattled off and what I read now, the beauty of the marathon is this
03:34is not Procam's success or just Tata Suns or TCS or any of our partners.
03:42This success is truly a shared success.
03:46Each and every one of you is a part of that success and we can all pat ourselves on the
03:52back for this.
04:01The marathon is a tapestry of life with so many different weaves and that is why you
04:07see society represented there in full color.
04:10Whether it's champions with disability, whether it's senior citizens, whether it's the young
04:15enabled, whether it's the corporate czar, whether it's the as we say celebrity, everyone
04:22is equal on that day.
04:24The road knows no difference.
04:28The road is a great leveler.
