00:00Following the imminent hacking of the Executive Branch,

00:03the Department of Information and Communications Technology, or DICT,

00:09will continue to update and purchase new systems

00:10to further strengthen the protection against cyber attacks by the government.

00:15Here is the report.

00:18There is no evidence of hacking or taking important and sensitive information from the government's data.

00:25This is confirmed by the Department of Information and Communications Technology

00:29in the hacking attempts that are highly suspicious.

00:32But the question is, how many people are trying to infiltrate the country's cyber security?

00:37To give context, in one day,

00:40it ranges from a few hundred thousand to a million attempts per day

00:44that our country is accepting.

00:46When it comes to hacking and infiltrating our systems,

00:50not only in the government, but also in the private sector.

00:54According to DICT Spokesperson Assistant Secretary Renato Paraiso,

00:57only a few of the reasons or motives of the alleged hacking are money,

01:02an increase in hacking skill level, and espionage.

01:04We have to remember here in Southeast Asia alone,

01:07it's a trillion dollar industry,

01:09the scamming and hacking.

01:12The agency also confirmed that since last year,

01:15China has been involved in the countries of the many threat actors

01:20who are committing hacking attempts.

01:21That's why the agency is continuously updating

01:24and procuring new systems

01:26to further strengthen the layer of protection against cyber attacks.

01:31This collaboration is also being carried out with other government agencies.

01:34We are encouraging other government agencies to visit DICT

01:38when it comes to your procurement,

01:41especially your cyber security systems.

01:45The DICT will have a chance

01:50if what you are procuring is correct.

01:51It addresses the particular challenges you're trying to address

01:54in procuring those systems.

01:56For us to be sure, it's up to global standards

01:58on what existing threats we can address.

02:01Information dissemination is also being promoted

02:04like the information campaign of DICT

02:06to increase the public's awareness

02:09on the importance of cyber security in the country.
