00:32organization for not having a real thorough coaching search i i look at it like this it

00:39you're the owner of an nfl team you should be able to hire whoever the hell you want if you

00:44want to hire your best friend you feel like that applies to any business yeah so any business i

00:49don't care you want to hire your best friend who has no experience then that's on you because

00:55you know maybe it'll show because the person's not qualified enough or you know it'll just it

01:02it might hurt your business more than anything else you know you want to hire your kid you can

01:07do that you own a team you own a business so be it who are you to tell me who i need to hire

01:14that's the way i look at it this is my business i want to do whatever i want to do with it

01:18yeah if i want to hire all my kids to to do it and they don't have zero experience so be it yeah

01:25i mean i just feel like you you gave gerard mayo a shot and that was going internally that didn't

01:37work and so you are you're the new england patriots you i believe you remain a destination

01:46that a lot of head coaches would would uh would desire you ought to make sure that you're doing

01:54your due diligence and interviewing every i'm a vrabel fan like i've been from uh from the start

02:00i wanted mike rabel but i i think you kind of owe it to yourself to at least wait on ben johnson i i

02:08why frame is your guy just because you you haven't curtis pointed it out you've hired

02:14three coaches in the last 30 years like you don't know necessarily what's out there and what might

02:19be i am i mike rabel to me is a great pick i love it i think he hits the ground running and he's the

02:25guy but i don't know if they're like are they making a mistake by just jumping to mike rabel

02:31because of the ties that he has to the organization well if they're doing that they're lying again

02:35because craft went and told media fans that they were going to interview a lot of people but could

02:41you just remind us what you were whispered to in nashville on your way back back when there was a

02:49coaching change possibly happening here again like was there interest for vrabel back then

02:54yes i don't i don't want to start off by revealing things well you've talked about it on the show

02:59before i'm not saying he said it i'm just saying you were whispered to i think he suggested that

03:04this i'll say it in a way that uh might not get me in trouble with him when we do mondays with mike

03:11um he wanted to be here curtis because he he liked this destination because they uh because

03:18of the money that the ownership had right that there was a certain player we were discussing

03:23and he said well if the patriots want them they may have more resources to get it correct

03:31and more resources that clearly mike vrabel hasn't been doing his research because curtis put up a

03:38graphic yesterday about how this team doesn't spend no money so yeah they might have money mike

03:44but guess what they very tight when it comes to their wallets whereas in vegas with brady

03:52we already know brady is a super competitor so he's not gonna want a losing product out there

03:59he might be willing to spend the money to go out and get those guys and tell mike hey listen you

04:04come here we're gonna open up our checkbook we're gonna go out and get the best players

04:09we'll do everything and and our power to help you be successful and mike guess what you and me

04:16will be the basically what you see what kyle shanahan and john lynch will be tied at the hip

04:24and our owner will leave us alone where if you go to new england you're gonna maybe have to work

04:31with somebody you don't have a great relationship with and ownership is gonna want some input into

04:39what's going on and how much money's being spent so if you're vrabel i ask the room this question

04:46if you and mike vrabel knowing all this knowing how much it costs to live in vegas versus how

04:51much it costs to live in massachusetts you take that all into consideration

04:55where would you go i would go where drake may is i would go wherever tom is not yeah i'd go

05:03i mean not really but yes i don't know i mean i i here's the thing that we're like the vegas part

05:09of it like what it costs to live there i would never want to live there what the weather is

05:13like what all those things part of it it's not 10 million it's not a part of it and new england's

05:21only willing to give them six million of it i don't think mike rabel cares about that in the

05:25least yeah i mean i've never been to vegas i don't know anything about it but i think wiggy

05:30is hitting on something that's important and that is the crafts walk around believing

05:38that the fan base is incredibly grateful for the six championships but today on january 8th 2025

05:47if you asked a patriots fan they would say it's bill tom in whatever order

05:52and that's it like the fan base no longer believes the crafts are the reason they won

05:59they view them as the reason the winnings stopped and so that disconnect doesn't exist with the

06:06celtics and wick and his fan base it exists with this ownership and the patriots fans for the

06:11biggest time since they purchased the team and i don't think they act or feel or understand just

06:18how deep that feeling is like i don't know if they accept it like because we kept saying right

06:24greg every offseason wiggy ken courtney we'd all say they need to spend right like they lost bill

06:29belichick craft has to spend to make it seem even if it wasn't that it was bill not spending and

06:35they haven't spent year after year after year they didn't invest around gerard mayo a guy robert

06:42craftwood how do you believe is his sixth son so why do we believe all of a sudden they're going to

06:47invest and let me ask the only reason that i believe it is because i feel like mike rabel

06:53and i don't feel the same way about ben johnson or anybody else mike rabel has the leverage like

07:00mike rabel he now has you know he had the leverage of the jets being interested and you don't want

07:05him coaching in your division i guess if you're robert craft now he has the leverage of tom brady

07:11in his relationship there and that job opening so he can say listen i'm not doing this unless you

07:17agree a i get my guy as the gm and b you commit to spending legitimate money and who's more likely to

07:26do that the vegas owner with brady or the crafts i think the crafts have to they have no choice

07:35they haven't they didn't do it with the greatest quarterback and coach they didn't have to do it

07:39when they had tom okay so why didn't they do it last off season why didn't they spend i there's

07:44no explanation there's no excuse and no explanation so that's all that's all i'm saying you may be

07:49right greg they may spend and i might be wrong or whatever but if we're judging them based on how

07:54drake may less go going into last season they didn't have drake may so they didn't have what

08:00they what everybody thinks is a a friend franchise trend trend a transitional franchise quarterback

08:08so i i mean are they gonna pay uh mike rabel 10 plus millionaire

08:16they're gonna have to i didn't ask if they were gonna have to why do you believe they are why do

08:21you think they got what you call these two sham interviews out of the way yesterday right before

08:28the ink was dry before gerard mayo cleaned out his office uh if they're not gonna hire

08:35mike rabel and what he wants so then my thing is this then uh friday otherwise you wait you

08:39wait till you can interview ben right so that's my point so friday morning the doing there should

08:45be news breaking friday morning that the patriots are gonna hire mike right it should be i would

08:50think friday morning yes have they interviewed enough people though for what robert kraft told

08:56everybody they were going to do to actually do it like is three people enough but we believe

09:01that'll be four but that's the issue though when robert kraft needs to stop saying things if he's

09:06not going to follow through because i think he's lost a lot of uh trust when it comes to the fans

09:11so if he's going to go in front of the media and say we're going to interview a lot of people doing

09:15a nationwide search he should be following through with that
