Ariana Grande chatted with The Hollywood Reporter on the red carpet of the Palm Springs International Film Festival 2025. The star talks about connecting with Selena Gomez this awards season and dishes on 'Wicked' part two.

00:02We're holding space for Wicked Part 2, of course.

00:05We're holding space for love and laughter and, I don't know, gratitude.

00:13Are you a New Year's resolution or intentions person?

00:15I'm an intentions person, but I don't know about a resolution.

00:19I don't have, I'm not good with like, I don't like, why today?

00:24You know what I mean?

00:25Can't we always be making resolutions and having,

00:27trying our best with good intentions?

00:29I don't know.

00:30Yeah.

00:31I don't have a resolution.

00:32Was that what you were asking?

00:34Do you have one?

00:35I have many, but it's not about me, it's about you.

00:37No, it's okay.

00:38We can talk, I'll tell you mine later.

00:41But I, by the way, I was just talking to Selena just about you guys

00:46on this journey together, both singing in these big movies

00:48and also the moments you share of just saying to one another,

00:51are you nervous?

00:52I'm nervous.

00:53Which is so crazy to think of all the global stages

00:55and the tens of thousands of people you perform for,

00:57that this is, you're nervous still.

01:00Yes.

01:01I mean, Selena's the sweetest in the entire world.

01:03I love getting to, I finally got to properly sit down and talk to her

01:07at the Academy Gala thing, and yeah, it was the sweetest thing.

01:11She had to give a speech and she was nervous,

01:12and we were talking about nerves and how beautiful it is

01:17to be able to do what we do, but how it never gets old

01:19and how certain parts of it you'll never get used to,

01:22and it's just so beautiful to see her work that she's done this year

01:27and how we're being celebrated for.

01:31It's really nice.

01:32I know what it feels like.

01:34She started very young, and yeah, it's amazing to see this happening for us.

01:39Being celebrated, Jennifer Coolidge is going to be here tonight

01:42to celebrate you.

01:43Tell me everything about that and how that came about

01:45and also just what she means to you.

01:47I mean, I'm so incredibly honored.

01:49I never in my wildest dreams thought that I would be able to call her my friend,

01:53let alone be able to receive an award from her

01:57or share something like this with her.

01:58I never in my life thought that.

02:01I grew up worshiping her work.

02:03She is one of the greatest comedians of all time,

02:07and how lucky am I that I get to call her my friend?

02:12It's just very special.

02:13It's very surreal.

02:16The last time we talked at Chanel, you said you were so looking forward

02:18to seeing what Cynthia does at Universal with her new production deal,

02:21and then I walked away from that conversation thinking,

02:23Ariana Grande would make a great producer too.

02:25Do you have aspirations to do that or direct or do anything else
