00:00Ligue 1 is underway in 2025 and a new year begins on the Coupe d'Azur with a Nice team

00:11chasing European qualification up against Jorge Sampaoli's Rennes. They're still looking for

00:16their first away win of the campaign who are languishing in the bottom half of the standings.

00:22Steve Mandanda captaining Rennes and starting in goal tonight but that in itself is

00:35newsworthy because Rennes number 11 really gifted player the shot fizzing in from Jordan

00:43James who has got that in his locker the ability to strike the ball from distance.

00:48Simpuka couldn't hold on to that attempt by Jordan James he just got his body behind it

00:54and then the follow-up effort well it clearly came off.

01:01Dombele it's a great turn by Tanguy Ndombele and it's good goalkeeping from

01:09this is vintage Tanguy Ndombele back to the player he was at Olympique Lyonnais

01:14earlier in his career huge moves and Tottenham Hotspur in the English Premier League kind of

03:26a fine equalizing goal and Rennes are back level to the delight of their all season long

04:23and it's going to be a card for Laurence Assignon for and Abdelmonem comes steaming in and

06:46I don't think it's over the top to suggest that a top four finish would be beyond their

06:55realistic expectations for this season for these especially given their dreadful injury problems

07:46instead he just turned it out into the path of Adrian Truffaut

07:59Truffaut oh and Martin Buca was a little bit hesitant about that one as well in the end he

08:04collects it it was a really awkward ball Adrian Truffaut thought it was probably a shot initially

08:12but it may not have been he may have been trying to pick out Ludovic Blas I think that Blas might

08:17have been slightly put off by the we've got two so far this evening and looking for a third but

08:23they've got some defending to do at the moment Buonanni back the way to Isham Boudaoui Boudaoui's

08:30shot Mandanda tipping it away instead Mandanda some good because he will have been furious with

08:38himself for being beaten

08:42and Nice on course to finish the night in the top four if they can hold on here that ball
