00:00Varanasi IIT-BHU has achieved great success in making Javik ethanol.
00:04Scientists of Varanasi IIT-BHU have done research on the process of making Javik ethanol with the help of potato peels.
00:11In this research, the use of potato peels has been done in the form of raw material,
00:16through which Javik ethanol is being made.
00:19This research is not only a great success in the field of Javik ethanol,
00:24but it is also a big step in the dream of becoming India's self-reliant.
00:28The research was done by Dr. Abhishek and his team,
00:32assistant professors of the biochemical engineering department of IIT-BHU.
00:37Javik ethanol is a biofuel, which acts as an alternative to clean and durable energy
00:42to reduce the dependence on raw oil in the country.
00:48Dr. Abhishek told us that we have done research on how to make Jeevasma
00:54with the help of potato peels, and our students have also received awards for this research.
01:01The research started by collecting the potato peel waste from the hostel mess.
01:07Because I saw that potato peel waste was generated in a very large amount.
01:11So for that, we collected the potato peel waste from there.
01:15After drying it in the oven, we grinded it and converted it into powder form,
01:21which we used in the further process, which is our fermentation process.
01:25In this, we took the substrate potato peel waste and with the help of some microbes,
01:29we converted it, which produced bioethanol.
01:33For this, we have used nanodrops for analysis and performed biochemical assays.
01:38We also did enzymatic analysis.
01:41But the basic step in this is the fermentation process, which is its main step,
01:46which we have done on a lab scale in serum bottles for now.
01:49The benefit of this bioethanol is that we can use it for our next generation fumes
01:55and it will also help in blending.
