Moldova braces for energy crisis as Russia halts gas supplies

Moldovan leaders have implemented energy-saving measures and assured residents of temporary gas reserves, but fears of a humanitarian crisis in Transnistria remain.

00:37The potential cutoff has raised concerns that it could lead to a humanitarian crisis in Transnistria.

00:44There is a risk that those from Transnistria will emigrate to Chisinau and other more developed

00:51countries, such as Belgrade or Strasbourg, as was the case when the war broke out in

00:57Ukraine.

00:58Moldova's parliament voted in favor of a state of emergency in the energy sector in December,

01:04as the looming crisis threatens to leave the country out in the cold this winter.
