ZUGZWANG is an Italian neofolk duo, founded in Florence in 2019 by vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Vrolok LaVey (Nachtmahr) and pianist, producer and arranger Lorenzo Pinto (Dollaro D'Onore).
ZUGZWANG's world revolves around philosophy and literature, narrating the human condition in a melancholic, yet epic, guise.
The peculiar blend of folkloristic, classical, western flavors and cinematic arrangements establishes their distinctive and evocative style: refined but accessible, intimate and intense like the soundtrack for an inner journey.
The debut album "UNDER THE SHADE OF THE LEAVES" will be released every digital platform and DigiPack CD (regular and limited edition) on September the 23rd 2022 on LICHTERKLANG RECORDS. A vinyl edition will be released in 2023.
