Police in Taiping, Perak, have arrested a woman in her 40s for allegedly setting a motorcycle on fire.

Taiping OCPD Asst Comm Mohamad Nasir Ismail stated that the arrest followed a report alleging the woman of pouring a liquid, believed to be petrol, on the motorcycle and igniting it at Jalan Masjid in Pokok Assam on Thursday (Dec 26).

00:15on December 26 at about 4.27 p.m. regarding the woman setting fire to a motorcycle at
00:22Jalan Masjid in Pokok, Assam.
00:26According to ACP Mohamed Nasir, video evidence showed the woman pouring a liquid, suspected
00:32to be petrol, on the motorcycle before igniting it.
00:36Following the report, a team from the Taiping District Police Headquarters apprehended the
00:41suspect, a woman in her forties, at 7.30 p.m. the same day.
00:47Preliminary investigations revealed that the act was allegedly motivated by dissatisfaction
00:52with a repossession agent's attempt to seize the motorcycle due to 20 months of unpaid
00:57installments.
00:58The case is being investigated under Section 435 of the Penal Code for Mischief by Fire.
