00:00The latest banknotes printed and released by the Banco Central have drawn its share of flak

00:04given the substitution of wildlife on the face of the bill over the nation's revered heroes

00:09and or freedom fighters. But as our Noel Talacay reports, the new polymer bills in denominations

00:15of a thousand five hundred one hundred and fifty pesos clearly show the move to cleaner for its

00:21crisp and smooth feel smarter because of its counterfeit proof and stronger for being water

00:27resistant and more durable against wear and tear than paper-based banknotes.

00:34Following the release of new polymer banknotes in the country, the Banco Centralang Pilipinas

00:40or BSP has issued some studies that shows polymer money is smarter, cleaner, and stronger. According

00:48to its issued key findings, it is smarter because it has a very sophisticated security. BSP says

00:56that for 1,000 pesos polymer money, only one is fake per 82 million pieces or 10 counterfeits out

01:05of 825.4 million pieces in circulation from 2022 to November 2024. BSP says that according to

01:16another studies, it is also smarter because it has a lower contribution to climate change.

01:23Another study also shows that polymer banknotes is cleaner because it can be sanitized or washed.

01:40bill was released in 2022, they received fewer worn out notes compared to paper bills of 1,000

01:48pesos. According to the BSP research, the polymer money lasts up to seven and a half years

01:55compared to one and a half years for banknotes. This is also the same finding of polymer money

02:02of New Zealand and Canada. According to the Banco Centralang Pilipinas, over 40 countries are now

02:09using polymer banknotes, highlighting the growing global shift towards smarter, cleaner, and more
