00:00The PKR's readiness to experiment with a different system is well-appreciated,

00:06but the new power structures involving gender and ethnic composition may be a bit difficult.

00:12At the special congress held on December 15, the PKR passed several series of institutional changes,

00:19increasing the number of representatives who will vote for the six highest positions,

00:23as well as 20 members of the central leadership council and the principle of establishing gender and ethnic power.

00:30The clean executive director, Uy Kok Hin, believes the PKR will find it rather difficult

00:36to strengthen the new power structures involving gender composition and ethnic representation.

00:41Political analyst Bridget Welsh praises the new system promising diversity and cultural diversity in party leadership.

00:50However, Welsh, who is also a fellow researcher at the Institute of Asian Studies,

00:55the University of Nottingham, Malaysia, also knows that the increase in the number of representatives eligible to elect the highest position

01:02is likely to create a disruption to the party's power structure.
