00:00The Bureau of Immigration is continuously campaigning against foreign pedophiles.
00:04Pogo workers are eager to have their work visas downgraded before the December 31 deadline.
00:10Jerome Toledo of Radyo Pilipinas has the country's latest news.
00:16The Bureau of Immigration is continuing its efforts to curb the illegal activities of foreign nationals in the Philippines.
00:25In a statement by Radyo Pilipinas World Service, Immigration Spokesperson Dana Sandoval said
00:31that the campaign against undesirable aliens, particularly sex offenders, has been intensified.
00:37In fact, they have blocked the seven stops of illegal sexual crimes that can enter the country from America, Britain, and Australia.
00:48The B.I. is also continuously assisting various agencies of the government,
00:53including foreign immigration counterparts, to fight this.
00:57We have a partnership with the Center for Welfare of Children in creating a helpline for tips also on foreign pedophiles.
01:05So it's a partnership with other government agencies.
01:08It's really, really important and it allows us to have more channels, more portals,
01:13to be able to submit information about illegal aliens in the country.
01:17Meanwhile, on the issue of foreign pogo workers, Sandoval said that 18,000 visas have already been downgraded by Immigration
01:25and most of its holders have already left the Philippines while thousands of others are still being downgraded.
01:32Immigration also gave a non-negotiable year-end deadline for President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to stop the operation of pogo workers in the country.
01:42They only have until December 31 of this year to leave the country legally.
01:48Because if they entered here legally, they worked here legally,
01:51we hope and we expect that they also follow the new direction of the national government
01:57and leave the country before December 31, after closing down their shops, closing down their operations here in the Philippines.
02:05If Immigration Bureau continues to act, the foreigners who downgraded and left the country before the December 31 deadline will not be blacklisted.
