Queensland Children’s Hospital patients share Christmas wishes

Christmas can be a season of magic and excitement for children. But for those who are sick, or in hospital, the best gifts are not found under the tree, they’re wishing for good health and time with loved ones.

00:00My name is Grace and I'm 16 years old.

00:11I've been in hospital for four months.

00:19I had to have this thing called a halo on to get me ready for surgery.

00:23In the operation the surgeons put two metal poles in my back to pull my back off my airways.

00:30I was very nervous and very scared but my family helped me through it.

00:39I'm Ellen and I'm five.

00:44I had an operation.

00:46How are you feeling?

00:47Good.

00:48Good? Any pain?

00:51No.

00:52I wish for...

01:01Can I grab the toy car?

01:04Yeah, we can take the toy car.

01:06I like to do Christmas with my family and Townsville.

01:26Yes, I wish I have a snow.

01:30You wish you had snow?

01:31Yes.

01:34It means so much to be home for Christmas, being with my family,

01:37my sister and my dogs and my parents.

01:40I just wish that everybody in the hospital has a good Christmas.
