Tween bounces into world record books with pogo stick skills

The Queenslander is always running around with his younger brother and sister at their rural property near Gympie, north of Brisbane. When the 12-year-old discovered a pogo stick six years ago, it was the perfect fit — going on to earn him a spot in the Guinness World Record books.

00:06The 12-year-old found a way to channel it when he discovered a pogo stick six years

00:15It's a hobby that's led to a mission to become the world's best junior jumper.

00:20As soon as I went on it I was instantly good and I know that's not very humble but still.

00:25And he also loves the Guinness World Record books and he's got several copies of them

00:29on his bookshelf.

00:31It wasn't an easy feat for him or his mum.

00:33They don't just hand out records, there's a process.

00:37So we needed two timekeepers with timekeeping experience.

00:41We needed two independent witnesses who were adults.

00:45We needed somebody to do a slow-mo video, somebody to do a normal video, somebody to

00:49do photographs.

00:50So there were seven adults required.

00:53After months of preparation, the big day came.

00:57I think the previous record was 172, I beat it by 15, so my record was 187.

01:06Yeah, it was tiring.

01:10He's recognised on the official website and has the certificate to prove it, along with

01:15bragging rights among his siblings and friends.

01:19Lachlan is autistic, so he has a few superpowers, including incredible focus and determination.

01:25Yeah, I'm immensely proud of him.

01:28He just will not let go, he will keep going until he's achieved things.

01:32It's something that he should be really proud of himself.

01:35Lachlan is still deciding whether to go for the 32nd world record.

01:39He may even try to beat the adult record one day.

01:42But one thing's for certain, he now knows he can do anything he puts his mind to.
