00:00Why haven't we discovered aliens yet?

00:03For some, the answer is simple.

00:05We have already discovered them, it's just that that discovery has never been publicly

00:09revealed to most of us.

00:11Conspiracies and whistleblowers claim that UAP are alien craft, that the government has

00:16captured alien biologics, and that experiments have been underway since at least Roswell.

00:24But if all or any of that were true, then why do you think it's being covered up?

00:32For today's video, we're not directly looking at whether or not the government really is

00:36covering up proof of extraterrestrial life.

00:39Most people have an opinion on that, and feel free to air yours in the comments section.

00:43But rather, we're considering some of the possible motivations a government could have

00:48for an alien cover-up, if that is what they're doing.

00:51What we know is that stories of alien sightings are increasing around the world.

00:55And in America especially, particularly since the US government took the unprecedented step

01:01of releasing an official UFO report detailing supposed alien sightings in June 2021.

01:08Interest in aliens is peaking, then, in part because we now have a batch of well-known,

01:12compelling accounts provided by apparently reliable sources, such as the US Air Force

01:17and Navy.

01:18Nevertheless, read through that same seemingly watershed UFO document, which covers sightings

01:24from 2004 to 2021, and you come to the somewhat anti-climactic conclusion that there was,

01:30in its view, no direct proof of aliens in any of the cases featured.

01:34However, the report also fails to give clear alternative explanations for almost all of

01:39those featured cases, too.

01:41And ultimately, perhaps the biggest takeaway from it is the apparent effort by US authorities

01:45to swap out the much-used term UFO and to replace it with UAP, or Unidentified Aerial

01:51Phenomenon, instead.

01:52A move considered by some as an attempt to distance these inexplicable sightings from

01:57any suggested alien activity.

01:59With reported sightings still going up, though, and from all kinds of sources, it seems the

02:03terminology matters little.

02:05Perhaps one of the most convincing cases ever filmed comes from the US fighter pilot David

02:09Fravor, for example, who in 2004, along with other pilots, reported a strange object with

02:16seemingly impossible propulsion over the Pacific Ocean.

02:18Arguably a still more famous case, however, centres on the engineer Bob Lazar, who claims

02:23to have been hired by Area 51 to investigate and reverse-engineer alien technology in the

02:291980s.

02:30Lazar's stories have attracted their fair share of scepticism over the years, but still

02:35managed to ignite the UFO conversation.

02:37So, for these examples, and the many others that are similar, the question remains as

02:41to why the government would be so determined to cover up alien life on Earth.

02:45One reason why people think the government is lying in the first place is because they've

02:49kinda done it before, and regarding alleged alien incidents specifically.

02:54The Roswell crash in 1947 is a prime example here, as that UFO was initially reported as

02:59a flying disc before being rebranded as an ordinary weather balloon instead.

03:04But then, in the mid-1990s, the Air Force backtracked again to reveal that it was, in

03:09fact, a nuclear test surveillance balloon for the then-top-secret program called Project

03:14Mogul.

03:15Given the political situation at the time, it's perhaps easy to see why the government

03:19might want to have kept some of those details quiet.

03:22But there may have been another reason, too… the possibility for mass hysteria.

03:27Back in 1947, any mention of nuclear or surveillance might have triggered a major public reaction.

03:34But equally, today, any mention of alien invasion could do the same, and a national or international,

03:39panic could be calamitous.

03:42One of the most famous examples of mass hysteria in history, a phenomenon closely linked to

03:47conversion disorder, is the infamous Dancing Plague in 1518, where some 400 people in Strasbourg

03:54uncontrollably danced, according to reports, leading many to ill health.

03:58The reason for the Dancing Plague is still undetermined, but it's thought conversion

04:02disorder in general can come about due to extreme stress and can manifest itself in

04:06unexpected ways.

04:08If everyone on Earth was to learn that aliens are real, then, and enough people were scared,

04:13anxious, stressed, superstitious, or any number of other emotions about that, then the possible

04:18response could be impossible to predict.

04:20At the very least, some argue that it would trigger chaos and lawlessness, and the last

04:25thing a government wants is public disorder.

04:28So that's one reason why proof of aliens might be kept under wraps.

04:32Fear of hysteria isn't the only thing that could hypothetically be influencing the authorities,

04:36though, and the real motives for a secretive government might have less to do with its

04:39citizens and more to do with its enemies.

04:42Throughout history, we've seen how governments try to balance the possibility of being attacked

04:46by neighbouring powers.

04:48And so, to maintain an equal playing field, it's in each country's best interest to

04:52appear at the cutting edge of science and technology, to ensure they can't be overpowered

04:57by others.

04:58Were the United States, or any nation, to encounter advanced alien technology, then,

05:03it might be deemed best if they were to learn how to use it before they revealed it to anyone

05:07else.

05:08If they hid proof of it until that point, the chance to gain an upper hand could feel

05:13too great to pass up.

05:15Consider how, during World War Two, the US, Germany, and others were rushing to develop

05:19the atomic bomb, knowing that whoever had it first would essentially win the war.

05:24For those who say governments have proof of aliens, it could be that a similar power struggle

05:28is happening today.

05:30When David Fravor caught his UFO on camera, for example, the apparent propulsion tech

05:34far superior to anything he'd ever seen was the major talking point.

05:38There are, of course, multiple possibilities here.

05:41Either another nation has the superior tech, the UFO is theirs, and the US are lagging

05:45behind…

05:46Or the UFO is in some way America's, it's just that America doesn't want even its

05:50own citizens knowing about it…

05:52Or the UFO is alien, and the US wants to keep it under wraps to learn from it.

05:56It would still likely be extremely difficult to keep such a massive secret from other nations,

06:01however.

06:02Looking back to World War Two again, for instance, the Soviet Union reportedly learned covertly

06:07of the Manhattan Project, the plan to build an atomic bomb, before even America's own

06:11FBI did.

06:12But, finally, perhaps the real situation is something of a merger between keeping citizens

06:17and potential rivals out of the loop.

06:19Because whether aliens really do exist on Earth or not, it's clear they make for an

06:23excellent distraction.

06:25Area 51 has long been the hub for alleged alien activity, with all eyes on the Nevada

06:29Desert whenever there's even a sniff of an ET story.

06:33But there's some argument that this most famous location for an alleged cover-up could

06:37also be part of a cover-up itself.

06:39That the US and global powers use ongoing stories like Area 51 and infamous UFO sightings

06:45to distract from other news stories, pieces of legislation, international developments,

06:50etc. of the time.

06:52Or even that locations like Area 51 are used to distract from the real truth about aliens

06:57on Earth.

06:58After all, if you were an undercover US agent, and you knew that aliens were among us, would

07:03you choose to house them in the one place everyone else on Earth expects them to be?

07:08Perhaps you wouldn't.

07:09The general idea for this line of thinking is that there's an even bigger picture out

07:12there somewhere, much more significant than even evidence of alien life, that governments

07:17hope to hide from the public, too.

07:19Just what that bigger picture is, however, is unknown.

07:25But to finish, we should mark the separation between UFOs and proposed alien life itself.

07:32With the 2021 UFO report, the US government concedes that there are strange, often inexplicable

07:38objects in the sky.

07:39And there are so many individual accounts from the general public of the same thing.

07:43Vastly fewer people claim to have met real aliens, however.

07:48And the UFO report doesn't deal at all with alleged alien encounters.

07:52Precious little from the government ever does.

07:54Perhaps that's all part of the secrecy, or maybe it's a fair reflection of what

07:58the authorities actually know.

08:00For sure, it's an issue that will continue to stoke debate.

08:03But those are some reasons why the government might want to hide proof of aliens.
