00:29local people do not get killed on local roads but that is in fact not true.

00:34Local people are being killed on local roads and it's often the case that you

00:39might have driven down a road many many times before but you can't assume that

00:44that one time around that one blind corner there won't be something on the

00:47road, there won't be a distraction that sees you lose control of your vehicle and

00:51either yourself or someone that you love harmed. What we say to our police and to

00:57our community is this, the only thing worse than having to knock on someone's

01:01door on Christmas Eve to deliver a death message is being the person that needs

01:06to open that door and receive that message and we do not want anyone in the

01:11Newcastle Hunter community or in the New South Wales community more broadly have

01:15to undergo that.
