00:04have decided not to leave the evacuation center

00:07for the residents affected by the eruption of Mount Canlaon

00:11to celebrate Christmas at their homes.

00:14This is Jess in Agua Ilana with Radyo Pilipinas Cebu.

00:21Because the alert level 3 in Volcano Canlaon is still high,

00:24there is a high possibility that in the evacuation center,

00:26the 5,000 residents of Canlaon City, Negro,

00:27in Oriental will be evacuated.

00:31This is according to the Office of the Civil Defense 7 Regional Director Joel Erestain

00:35in an interview with Radyo Pilipinas Cebu.

00:37This may take a longer haul for us,

00:40for the preparation, for taking care of them.

00:44That's why the national government is stepping in to help them.

00:49Because we know that local governments can't handle it.

00:51And the province is also helping.

00:57It's almost sure that they will spend Christmas there.

01:00Based on the alert status,

01:02those in the 6-kilometer permanent danger zone

01:04are not allowed to return to their homes.

01:06There is still a risk that Volcano Canlaon may erupt at any time.

01:10Residents in the immediate vicinity

01:12prepared by LGU Canlaon and DSWD

01:14will also be safer.

01:16And to ensure that the affected residents

01:18will remain in the evacuation center,

01:20the Philippine National Police and Visayas Command

01:22have monitored the operatives.

01:24Because of this, the authorities asked for an understanding

01:26because the government's efforts

01:28is also for their safety.

01:30Residents of Canlaon City are grateful

01:32because they voluntarily evacuated

01:34after a few days of hesitation.

01:38Based on the data of LGU Canlaon as of 2 p.m.,

01:40today, there are 5,229 individuals

01:44or 1,619 families

01:46inside the 8 evacuation camps

01:48while 100 people are being evacuated

01:50to their friends outside the PDZ.
