00:00The Bureau of Animal Industry, or BAI, has culled ducks from a farm in Talisay, Camarines Norte,
00:06after testing positive for H5N2, a subtype of avian influenza, or bird flu. This marks the
00:13first recorded case of this virus strain in the country and the first instance of bird flu in the
00:19province. H5N2 affects chickens, ducks, and other wild and domestic birds, causing illness and death
00:26among affected animals. It also poses a potential risk of transmission to humans,
00:31possibly causing flu-like symptoms. BAI has recommended quarantine and biosecurity measures
00:38in the affected area to prevent the virus's spread. And the Department of Agriculture
00:42advises the public to ensure meat is thoroughly cooked before consumption.
