00:00Hi Vogue, it's Nara Smith.
00:01I'm here to show you my everyday skincare routine
00:03and makeup look.
00:05I usually just splash my face with water in the morning
00:08and then I go in with this True Botanicals oil.
00:11This is my favorite thing.
00:12I started using it four years ago
00:14when I was pregnant with my first baby.
00:16I just do literally three drops.
00:22I also put my hair back.
00:25This is this German moisturizer that I get at a pharmacy.
00:29It's called Dexler Real.
00:30I've also been using this for 10 years.
00:32I just put it in this little travel jar
00:34and since I'm on the road almost all the time,
00:37I just refill this jar.
00:40I have very dry skin.
00:42I have, I deal with a lot of eczema.
00:44It's usually like on my palms
00:47and then when I get really stressed,
00:49it just flares up on my entire face
00:52and entire body and scalp.
00:54So I just try to keep my skin as moisturized as possible.
00:59And then I go in with this eye cream.
01:00I do think my bags are hereditary.
01:03My mom has really bad eye bags too.
01:05So I've just embraced it at this point.
01:10Always use a good sunscreen.
01:12I never used to do this and I still forget sometimes.
01:16I made this sunscreen once when I was on vacation
01:19in California for my husband
01:20because he burns very easily
01:23and we ran out of sunscreen
01:24and I didn't really want to run to the store.
01:27So I just made it myself.
01:29He didn't get sunburned that day so I guess it works.
01:33I got dragged on the internet for making some sunscreen.
01:36I'm gonna make myself a lip scrub, not a sunscreen today.
01:40My mom actually taught me how to make this.
01:41She used to make all these different concoctions growing up.
01:44We have brown sugar, coconut oil,
01:46have some honey too and some peppermint essential oil.
01:50We're gonna do a little bit of coconut oil
01:53and we'll do about that much of sugar.
01:55I never measure my ingredients ever
01:58unless I'm baking.
01:59So we're just gonna eyeball it.
02:00This looks about right.
02:01I prefer brown sugar just because
02:03the crystals are a lot bigger.
02:05So we're also gonna add just a smidge of honey.
02:09In the winter time, I get obsessed
02:12with anything that smells like peppermint.
02:14So we're gonna do peppermint essential oil.
02:17That should probably be enough.
02:19Give that a really good mix.
02:21Okay, this is what we're left with.
02:23I just take a little bit on my finger.
02:26It's gonna be messy
02:28because the coconut oil is gonna melt.
02:30So just be prepared.
02:34My lips are so soft after it.
02:36Mint tea with lemon and honey is the best thing ever.
02:41We're gonna go in with this Laneige lip mask,
02:44obviously peppermint.
02:47This is all I do for skincare.
02:49I'm gonna start with this MAC primer.
02:52I love products that are just hydrating and dewy.
02:56I kind of stay away from matte products.
03:00This thing, so good.
03:02I used to use the more bronzy one,
03:04but now since I feel like I'm a little bit more pale,
03:08I prefer this one.
03:11In America, people wear a lot more makeup.
03:15I think in Germany or Europe,
03:16it's a little bit more stripped back,
03:18more natural, I guess.
03:20You're meant to have fun with makeup.
03:21So to me, sometimes I want a really simple, basic look.
03:25Sometimes I wanna go all out
03:27and I just kind of do whatever I feel.
03:29A lot of people don't know that I'm actually German.
03:32So, ich hab drei Concealer.
03:34That's all the German you're getting from me today.
03:37I kind of use this one to color correct a little bit.
03:42I have two different shades of the Hourglass one.
03:45I mix them just because my skin is either tan
03:49or a little bit more pale,
03:51depending on where we are in the year.
03:53Oh, hello.
03:56I apply my concealer and then I just kind of let it sit.
04:00So it kind of dries a little bit,
04:02which always helps with coverage.
04:04In the meantime, I like doing my eyebrows.
04:06So I just brush them up.
04:08I remember when I was 14
04:09and got scattered by my modeling agency,
04:12I had the thinnest brows.
04:14And when I send in my tapes,
04:16they basically told me to never touch my eyebrows again.
04:19And I never did until 10 years later,
04:21about a few months ago,
04:23I kind of started plucking them a little bit
04:26and making them just a little thinner.
04:27I don't really like eyebrows looking too blocky.
04:31I like them kind of looking a little bit more wispy,
04:34but just a little darker
04:35just because my eyebrows can get a little sparse.
04:42Rumble, my four-year-old,
04:44she always watches me get ready in the mornings
04:47and she always has to do the whole routine.
04:50Like she needs her blush on,
04:51she needs her eyebrows brushed up.
04:54She wants all this stuff.
04:55The more glitter, the better.
04:58I grab my beauty blender
05:00and I just spray it with the Fix Plus spray.
05:05My kids have no clue what I do, why I do it.
05:08Every time I walk down, Rumble just loves my dress.
05:11She's obsessed.
05:12And she says, mom, are you cooking for us?
05:14And I say, yeah, I am.
05:16What are you craving?
05:17Sometimes I spend seven hours slaving away in the kitchen
05:21and they will not touch the meal,
05:24even though they asked for it.
05:25People always think that I just do it for show,
05:28which it's definitely fun
05:31getting a rise out of people on the internet,
05:33but I actually do cook those meals for my kids.
05:36I go in with just a little bit more concealer sometimes
05:39if I've had a really rough night.
05:43I don't tend to use foundation a lot,
05:46but sometimes I do a tiny, tiny layer.
05:49So I use this one.
05:50It's super lightweight, half a pump.
05:53Honestly, just rub it in.
05:56I like using my hands for makeup.
05:59Sometimes it just melts into the skin a lot better.
06:03My favorite thing I've made recently were the SpaghettiOs.
06:06They were so good.
06:07I had some too.
06:08Something that's just iconic was the bubble gum.
06:10Best bubble gum I've ever had in my life.
06:12We let it sit and I just blend it out again.
06:15I don't like full coverage on my face, but under my eyes.
06:20Yes, please.
06:21Lucky feels like makeup suffocates him.
06:24Sometimes I ask him, I'm like,
06:25can I just do your makeup just to like see?
06:27Cause he has the longest eyelashes.
06:30I put mascara on him once and I couldn't believe
06:32they were touching his fricking eyebrows,
06:34but he wears makeup on set
06:36and he always feels like it's just clogging his skin.
06:39So he always just wants to take it off.
06:42And before I met him,
06:43he told me that he would wash his makeup off in the shower,
06:46just with whatever shampoo or shower gel it was,
06:49just scrubbing his face.
06:51But now I've actually gotten him
06:52into the Elemis Cleansing Balm to take it off.
06:55And it's a game changer.
06:57The Fenty Matchstick in Mocha.
06:59I just kind of contour my nose just a little bit.
07:03I take this hourglass brush and I just blend it upwards.
07:10I do the smaller hourglass one for my nose.
07:13Once I find a makeup product I really like,
07:15I use it for years and I always find it the most random way.
07:19I was in Sephora one day and just saw that Rihanna
07:22came out with these matchsticks
07:24and everyone was raving about them.
07:26So I bought one and I've had it ever since.
07:28This is the same one I bought, what?
07:31I bought, what?
07:33Three years ago, however many years ago.
07:34Okay, road, you really did something with these.
07:37Okay, Pocket Blush in Freckle.
07:40Oh, I usually don't apply it on my face.
07:43I apply it right here and just kind of warm it up.
07:45And this is what I'm working with.
07:47And then just dab it on my cheeks.
07:50I definitely have blush blindness.
07:53I just love blush, it's my favorite thing.
07:56I also put it a little bit on my nose,
07:58kind of just like this.
08:02We're gonna do just a smidge more blush.
08:03I started cooking a lot of my meals from scratch
08:05because I got diagnosed with an autoimmune disease
08:08and my eczema was flaring up so bad
08:11that I could barely function.
08:12I couldn't use my hands.
08:14And moving from Germany to America,
08:16obviously food is a lot different here.
08:18And that started my whole journey
08:19in cooking things from scratch.
08:21But obviously we're busy, we're parents,
08:23we order out food sometimes, we go and eat at restaurants
08:27and also cooking meals that are 30 minute meals.
08:29I don't spend seven hours in the kitchen every single day.
08:33I tend to set my cream blush with a powder blush.
08:37I use my hands a lot when it comes to doing my makeup.
08:40I brush off a little and then just use whatever is left
08:43to just kind of set.
08:45I'm using the Hourglass bronzer,
08:47putting that all over my lid.
08:50I'm not good with eyeshadow, okay?
08:52That's something I cannot do.
08:54So I just stick to keeping it very simple.
08:58Eyebrow gel.
09:00We're gonna set our face with the Fix Plus mascara.
09:07I curled my lashes for years.
09:09And then one day I was in a rush.
09:11I curled my lashes.
09:13I opened my lash curler.
09:15I looked down.
09:16All my lashes are in this lash curler.
09:18I looked back in the mirror because I couldn't believe it.
09:21My lashes were gone on one eye.
09:24I threw the lash curler with my lashes in the trash
09:27and never got another one.
09:30I'm terrified of them.
09:33Eyeliner.
09:34I do the tiniest little wing.
09:35I just feel like my eyes go down a little bit.
09:38So I wanna bring them up.
09:44Remember the time when everyone used to bake their faces?
09:47I was always too dry to do that.
09:50But I use the Veil Hourglass one.
09:58This product is my holy grail.
10:00It's the Chanel Transparent Balm.
10:03Put it on my hand.
10:04It just makes you look dewy and sweaty,
10:07but in the best way ever.
10:10My eye still goes down a little, okay?
10:13So what I do is I use individual lashes, Ardell lashes.
10:17They have carried me through very tough times.
10:20I've cried them off after dates.
10:23I've accidentally showered with them.
10:25I usually do like a 12 at the end and then a 10.
10:28I use the Duo Glue.
10:30I use the black one.
10:31I don't do the clear
10:32because a lot of the times I feel like
10:34you can kind of see it.
10:35Grab a lash, dip it.
10:41It just gives you like a little lift.
10:46We're gonna move on to lips.
10:48I'm just gonna wipe off my lip balm.
10:51Today we're going all out.
10:52Why not?
10:53So we're gonna line our lips with Chestnut.
11:03And then I drag it in a little bit at the corners.
11:06So that's what we're working on right now.
11:10Okay, now that we've done the outline,
11:12I just take my finger and smudge it just a little bit.
11:18Then I go in with a stain.
11:21It has to be like a berry color stain.
11:27We go in with the MAC Lip Glass.
11:36People always tell me that I need to bring my curls back,
11:40but what people don't realize is that
11:42I had really bad eczema on my scalp and it used to flake.
11:46And then I lost so much hair along the hairline
11:49and the top of my head
11:51that I could not slick my hair back anymore
11:53and wearing a curly.
11:54Curly girls know it's a process
11:57and I didn't really have the mental capability
11:59to do that with all the eczema on my hands.
12:02So I figured out that I just needed to chop it off
12:05and straighten it because it would help my scalp eczema
12:08and just everything in general
12:10and make me feel a lot more confident in myself.
12:13Let's end it with a little bit of fragrance.
12:15This Mason Margiela Beachwalk one, so good.
12:21This is my final look.
12:23Thanks for hanging out.
12:24I'll see you around.
