00:18Yes, Asec. First, how is your monitoring of the situation in the hospitals in Negros Province and who are the people we are monitoring?

00:27Yes, right now, Joshua, our regional offices of the Department of Health and Centers for Health Development

00:33have been given instructions to be vigilant and to monitor even our hospitals.

00:39We have not yet seen or received reports, adverse reports from our hospitals.

01:33What are those regions? The Negros Island region, Western Visayas, and Central.

01:38Even nationwide, in other regional offices, the DOH has code white.

01:53The entire Department of Health is ready, even in other parts of the country,

01:58to send help if our people in Negros are overwhelmed.

02:12What are the risks to health hazards that our countrymen should monitor,

02:15especially as the volcano continues to erupt?

02:20The four parts of the body that we look at, because of the eruption of the volcano,

02:27are our breathing, our nose and mouth, our eyes, our food, our mouth, and our skin.

02:37First of all, we are monitored by the DOH.

02:40That is why we have been listening to the reports of FEVOX and PAG-ASA.

02:46Because the wind pushes our ash fall, our ash plumes.

02:50The ash can irritate our eyes.

02:54That is a health hazard that can irritate our eyes.

02:58And then in our breathing, if we have hiccups or other conditions like chronic obstructive pulmonary disease,

03:05we can be irritated by the ash.

03:08Our recommendation for our eyes, especially if it is an affected area,

03:11is to listen to our LGUs.

03:13We should wear a face mask.

03:15We need N95.

03:17The DOH provides it, especially for affected areas.

03:21But if we don't have N95, we can use a medical mask or cloths that are wrapped.

03:27As for our food, we should make sure that our food is clean.

03:33We should wash fruits and vegetables that are not contaminated.

03:36The water should also be clean.

03:38And for our skin, if we have contact with ash,

03:41we should wash it with soap and water so that our skin won't be irritated.

03:50Do you have an alternative way to make sure that the water our countrymen drink is clean?

03:58The Department of Social Welfare and Development and the Department of Health

04:03provide water filter systems, or if not water filters,

04:07we provide chlorine tablets.

04:09The ash can be contaminated.

04:13Our concern is the contamination of microbes that can be mixed with the floating ash.

04:20It is important that if our water is not used as a water filter,

04:25we allow it to stay for a few hours in a large container that is covered

04:31so that the particulate matter or the floating ash comes down.

04:35We should not take the bottom part.

04:38We should take the clear part and let it boil for 2 minutes

04:43so that the microbes that are mixed with it die.

04:47But it is better if we evacuate because the evacuation centers

04:52have provisions for clean water and water filtration.
