00:50Congratulations are in order, Juan Soto, the crown jewel of the baseball free agent class
00:56is a New York Met, spurning the Yankees, making you guys the king of New York, no?
01:02How you feeling this morning?
01:03It's one of the greatest days of my life as a sports fan, short of hopefully one day winning
01:08the World Series, this is the best thing that can happen to the New York Mets.
01:11It's something that I never in my wildest dreams, if you told me, you know, early 2000s
01:18as I was growing up, that one day the Mets would not only sign the player of a generation
01:26and not only would it be upwards of a billion dollars, but that it would be taken right from
01:31the Yankees clutches from a guy who not, not only played with them, but went to the post season,
01:36went to the World Series, wore the pinstripe, all of that shit.
01:41This changes, like, who knows what happens, you know, can you win the World Series with
01:47them? Hopefully, probably, maybe, but you know, you look at the Dodgers, they were the best team
01:51for like a decade, they barely won one, right? So you don't, you can't control what happens
01:55after this point. Anybody who's in post-season contention could win or lose the World Series,
01:59but what you can control is shit like this. And what Steve Cohen did here and what Juan Soto did
02:05here forever changes New York baseball, forever. Like up until the ink was on the paper,
02:13Saturday Night Live had skits making fun of the Mets, calling them needy and poverty,
02:17and Juan Soto doesn't want to play there. You got the footage of every Yankee fan in the world
02:22being like, doesn't matter how much money, he's not going there. And up until then, they were
02:26right. And it's a new day. You can never make those jokes again. You can never talk little
02:31brother again. You can never talk about redheaded stepchild. Nobody gives a fuck about the Yankees
02:36aura or mystique anymore. It was about money and about the future and the Mets have better
02:43in both of those departments. So it's, it's, you know, the job's not done of course, but it's
02:50again, as far as like being a franchise that is a contender and a real player,
02:59this solidifies them like instantly. And the Mets have gotten guys before, like obviously Carlos
03:04Beltran, big names before, but what makes this guy different and how much better is it that is
03:10from the Yankees as opposed to like the Astros of Beltran?
03:13Even Beltran, when he signed, he was like, he wanted to go to the Yankees and the Yankees were
03:18like, we like, we got this luxury tax right now. They talked about him taking a discount. And in
03:23the end he was like, it's just too much of a discount. But like, even when we got our guy,
03:26that was our biggest free agent signing ever before that. It was like, oh, he still wanted,
03:31it's like the Yankees. Anytime the Mets did make a slash, it was the Yankees allowed them to,
03:35this was like the fact that we took it from you. If he was coming from the Nats or the Padres,
03:40it would still be a big deal if it was Mets and Yankees and they won. But like, he already wore
03:46the uniform, played in the stadium, had the fans, all that shit that Yankee fans think is like so
03:52special. And it's like, no bro, it's not 1999. Like nobody fucking cares. That shit is over now.
04:00And if you can't find the money or the means, the way to sign Juan Soto, then like,
04:07you know what I mean? Like if they ever go head to head for a bidding war again,
04:11they'll lose every time. They're just a better option with more money.
04:16So we got Hubs, our Yankees guy on Hubs. Condolences, Juan Soto, now in the orange
04:23and blue. What are your thoughts this morning? I said Hubs is the only guy I actually feel bad
04:27for. Tommy can rot in hell. Marty's a fucking idiot. Hubs, I feel like a smidge bad for.
04:32Yeah, you texted me that and it almost made it even worse.
04:37No, this sucks, man. I was just on Pick Central. I was kind of just talking it all out. There was
04:42no, like the plan B, plan C, plan D, they all suck. Like it was all Soto. It was Yankees and
04:49Mets the whole way, 50-50. There was never going to be other teams. And they eventually got to a
04:54point where I think the Yankees just eventually sniffed out like, if we go to $775, he's going
04:59$800. Like I don't want to carry Hal's water and I'm not intending to do that here. But like when
05:05people are like, oh my God, they wouldn't go to $765 for him? Like, no, dude. Like that's just
05:10how it was unfolding. Like it was over like that. He was going, they officially like saw he was
05:15going to the top bid and Cohen was not going to be deterred. And this was his guy to make his
05:18statement and he's, fuck you. And like, oh, you're going to put this Cohen tax level? I don't care.
05:23You know, like I'm like, I hate all of you people. I have more money than all you people.
05:27I'm going to make a statement here. And that's what he did. And Juan Soto is the perfect guy to
05:30do that. And yeah, I'm really sad. The only thing I'm holding onto right now is one, and I truly
05:37believe this, Tommy would disagree, that I think him going to Boston would be the worst thing that's
05:43ever happened to me. So I'm very happy that that didn't happen. And I've always said, and it
05:49changed a little today on the way to work. I was, I've never really hated the Mets hate Mets fans
05:54today. Now I hate the Mets for like the first time. Like Tommy is the worst thing in the world
05:59that anytime the Mets win, like usually I just don't like regular season. I just don't care.
06:03Tommy. It's like Frankie's Rangers with his Islanders like that. For me, that's the Red
06:08Sox. Like I, I, I can't stomach them getting an out in a, in a regular season game. So if he went
06:12to the Red Sox, that would have been a disaster. Like I've ever reported, obviously this is
06:16horrible too, but that's even worse because he's in your division. And also thank God,
06:20Comer and Phil are just not here. I don't have to deal with it. Yeah. Or Tommy just stuck in a
06:25bar in new Orleans with those fucking freaks. Yeah. Yeah. The worst is I was telling Phil,
06:31like what was going on and with like the signings or whatever. And he's like, he's going to the
06:35Yankees. I'm like, yo, Phil, I told you 30 minutes ago where he's going to the Mets. And like,
06:40this is killing me even more that you can't understand this text conversation. But yeah,
06:45I'll say this though. The money was, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's the bigger difference
06:51than people think. Cause it was $75 million signing bonus. The, the opt-out clause avoidance
06:56is automatic. It's going to be 40 million more. So it was really 800, but it was close enough
07:01that if you wanted to go, Oh yeah, you could have, it wasn't one of those things where like,
07:05like when the, when the Rangers signed a ride, it was like, you got to like double the biggest
07:09contract for me to go to this fucking shitty franchise. And they did, this was not that it
07:13was not like the Mets were like, you know, the Yankees were like, we'll give you five 50 and
07:17the, and the Mets were like, please come to our shitty franchise. Here's 200 million more. If he
07:21wanted to, he could have. And I think that's worse for you. Yeah, no, like Randy Miller,
07:27um, said, and he's a terrible reporter. Um, and, and I didn't believe it from the start,
07:31but it's one of those things like with a Red Sox fans, like clung to this report,
07:34like they were clinging to any little thing. And Randy was like, the Yankees are topping out at
07:37five 50. And I just absolutely knew that was the most bullshit report ever because they were
07:42already above that. They were in like the six hundreds at that time. So he was so out of the
07:45loop. So like, it wasn't like, yeah, the Yankees stopped at five 50. I'm like, we can't go a dime
07:49higher. They were up there. They were at seven 60. But what you said is also right. That like,
07:55so part of me says, well, if you were the last I saw was that they were at seven 12 and they got a
08:00phone call. Like you guys are way behind and they opted to seven 60 and yeah, the logic is like,
08:04well then why not go to seven 70? Why not go to seven 80? Like at this point, they just knew it
08:09wasn't going to end. It would have just gone on. I think if Otani set the market at eight 50 last
08:16year, I think Steve Cohen would have started at eight 50. Like I don't think we comprehend how
08:21much money he has. It does not matter. No, I really go back to that clip and it gets played
08:27a ton now. Um, where he's like, I didn't, I don't, I don't want to make money. I just want to win.
08:34He says it's philanthropy. He said, it's literally, and honestly, like, and I hate to say this
08:38because he just stole my guy, but like, that's how owners should act. You're like, like, obviously
08:43like how has moments where he, he has this quote where he's like, um, I don't believe you should
08:48have a $300 million payroll to be consistently competitive for world series. He's not wrong.
08:53When he says that the problem is when Brian Cashman's your GM, you need to spend 300 million
08:57to cover his errors. So like, that's, that's how it's kind of stinginess, but he still spends a
09:02fuck ton of money. The problem is like the Oakland maze signed Luis Severino to his $67 million
09:07contract. Soto's signing bonus is more than that. Like there's such a difference in owners,
09:14like mindset, like everyone, every baseball owner should operate in the mindset that you
09:20are owning this team, not to make a buck. You're doing it as a hobby and you like baseball and
09:24you want this team to win a world series. And there's so many owners that just don't do that.
09:28So I, I, I hope people act like Cohen more like, I hope this, well, that's the thing is
09:34like that you cannot replicate a hungry new owner who is going to do whatever he can to win it. You
09:42know, when the Dodgers changed ownership, they all went away when they went all in, when the
09:47Red Sox changed ownership, they broke the curse. It's because it's like, I'm here for a reason.
09:50It's not to like make money and tread water. It's like, I need to win. Whereas the Yankees are like,
09:56I'm trying to be like my dad, but we're not really, we don't want to go over the luxury
09:59tax. We want to try to win those. That's the world's apartment. That is world. And that matters.
10:04You know, he's inconsistent. Cause, cause like there's times where he's like, fuck it. I'm going
10:08to be my dad. Like he, the seven 60 offer. Like I don't think they had any plans to go this high.
10:13And like, he took seven 60. I bet there's people in that front office and the, and,
10:17and the upper management would be like, Holy shit. Like, like we've paid this guy $760 million.
10:21They didn't, they didn't plan this at all. So credits to Hal for like, you know, going outside
10:25his comfort zone. But there are other times where he's like, yeah, that luxury tax is right there.
10:30So I just, if he was just as more consistent on this and being this type of owner be a different
10:35story, but they were never going to win it. I think it's the money. I also think that they
10:40mets everything that you talk about, the Yankees is in the past and everything about the mess is
10:45in the future. And I really think the Coen's present. Well, they're like a tight knit family
10:51and they had him come to the house and they cooked Latin food and his wife's involved.
10:55And how about that fucking stupid Yankee security guard who kicked out like one Soto's uncle or
10:59some shit. There's no way that had anything to do with his, but it is smart that like,
11:05I heard everyone else met at like Boris's house and Cohen had him over and blah, blah, blah.
11:10That shit matters, man. It may not matter more than money, but when you couple it with the money,
11:14it's like, yeah, that would totally matter to me. A hundred percent one devil's advocate question.
11:20So you guys are talking and the mess weren't going to be outbid. Is there a small part of
11:25you hubs? That's like, if we're not going to be outbid, just make it as expensive as possible
11:31and drive up the price. Does that have a, does that, is there any regret in that or is it just
11:36like, fuck it, like seven 65, like we're not touching that. No, I, I, I, because Cohen is
11:43so rich that who gives a fuck? Like there's no, there's no, there's no price that like is going
11:47to, you know, bother him. So I, I think they understood that as well. Otherwise they would
11:52have went to seven 75 or matched and then kept this going. Like they, they just knew like.
11:57That report from Martino saying that the mess were behind garbage.
12:01Okay. Let me tell you right now, just, just a blatant lie.
12:04Yeah. That's like straight up. Not true.
12:07The Mets were the, so from my understanding when the initial offers came out, Toronto blew everyone
12:12out of the water, but everyone laughed at Toronto because it's Toronto. No one is going to Toronto.
12:17I don't know how they ever land a free agent, like an Otani or just no one wants to play this.
12:22Wait, did they go higher than seven 65?
12:24No, I don't know what their final bid was, but the start, they were like in the sixes or something
12:29and everyone else is in the fives. This is just initial like, Hey, we're just testing the waters,
12:34whatever. And pretty much everyone, Red Sox, Yankees, Mets. I don't know what the Dodgers
12:40started at, but all those guys were right in the mid fives to start maybe low fives.
12:44And then things started to, you know, then I think Boris used the blue to be like, Hey,
12:48they're at six, something you got to get there. And then that's when everyone started to like,
12:52okay, here we go. Let's play ball here. But there was that, that notion that the Yankees
12:56were ahead the whole time is bullshit. I believe the Rosenthal thing where they were at seven 12
13:01and they're like, Hey, what are you doing? All right. Seven 60. This is, this is what we got,
13:04you know, yeah. Pretty much like if he doesn't take this, then what are we doing here? And they
13:11were like, okay, well fuck off. I mean, you have to understand like Steve Cohen has statues that
13:16are worth 150 million. Like you can't beat that guy. It's and, and, and like, it's the right guy
13:24to do it. You know, everyone trying to all of a sudden flip. Now he doesn't play defense.
13:29And like, well, like if you, if we got him, you would use that. I don't even know if I would,
13:37because he's that good where it's just like, yeah, this fucking sucks. He's the best.
13:41So I don't know if you're why I'm, I'm, I'm a masochist. So I was watching MLB network last
13:46night, typing up my blog. You're writing your blog and the drafts at the same time. And I'm like,
13:49this is just, this sucks. If we were like on a show or a movie, this split screen would have
13:54been murdered. But I forget what, maybe it was Rosenthal or DeRosa maybe. And he said when
14:04it was like a playoff game, I believe Nats Dodgers or Padres Dodgers. And there's a ball
14:09Kershaw's warming up to come out of the bullpen to face him in the playoffs just for him. And he
14:14knows this and a ball gets loose or something like that. And he literally like goes near the fence
14:18and he makes eye contact with Kershaw. And he's apparently like, and he just Kershaw knew at that
14:23moment, like, like he just didn't have it. And so to somewhere to hold it off when he came in,
14:28it's like he, he has, I hate to say this, like, like, but he's such a special player.
14:34Like all his at bats are cinematic masterpiece. He, the way he controlled that at bat against
14:41the, uh, the guardians against gadgets to win it was, I'll never see an about like that ever
14:46again in my life. Um, like it was, or from anyone else, maybe he'll probably do it again, but
14:50anyone else, I think that was very Steve Cohen-esque. I think he was like, he was fouling
14:56those offers off. Like, I'm going to do this all night until I hit the whole run. Like, you're not
15:00going to beat me. You know, like you just can't when, when someone is that, that good. So, and I
15:04know like, is he literally based on judges numbers and whatnot? Is he better? Is he worth it?
15:10Literally? No. Uh, but also re realistically, yes. In the sense of like what he means, what he
15:17brings, how he changes this landscape. And also look around the rest of the sports that fucking
15:21NBA guys making 70 a year. You got NFL quarterbacks making 50. If you're a prime time player in the
15:28major sports, you should get around 50, 60 million. Like, I mean, that's not a big deal.
15:32When Bryce Harper signed his deal with the Phillies at the time, some people were like,
15:35whoa, that's a lot of years and money. Now he's making 25 million a year for like the next 10
15:43years. It's the biggest bargain in like, so you have no idea what baseball money is going to be
15:48in five years. Like that might be fine. Aaron Johnson, that opt-out man. Like, I don't think
15:52it's going to happen, but like, let's say it does. And you get like the best five years of Juan Soto's
15:57career. Then it's a $255 million deal over five. And he walks like, I was worried about like a
16:03three-year opt-out, you know, but five years, like, yeah, for sure. I don't see any scenario
16:08where he leaves the Mets though. Like the only thing could be is if he like, if the market really
16:13takes off and he rakes the whole time, he'll be what? 20, 30. Okay. But even then that's a really
16:19good thing for you because that means you got to make Soto for five years. That's what I mean. So
16:22either way. And then to end the opt-out is just $4 million more a year, which is like
16:27fucking chump change. So he will be a Met for 15 years if the Mets want him to be. And that's
16:31really all that matters. Uh, it's, and like, dude, there's a guy in a hot tub pouring champagne on
16:39himself, celebrating signing with the new York Mets. Yeah. That is a paradigm shifting moment
16:48that like, it just was never a thing. It's certainly not right in the Yankees face.
16:53It's yeah. I'm curious how they react. I don't know who they sign and go after.
16:57Um, it doesn't matter that the four quarters doesn't equal a dollar in baseball around,
17:01but I think I'm doing it. No, I agree. Like Kyle Tucker is next year. So that will be what
17:06everyone's talking about. And, and, and not to say he's Juan Soto, he's really fucking good.
17:11Kyle Tucker. So if that was, if that is, if you tell me right now, like we get Kyle Tucker in a
17:15year, I can stomach this better. It doesn't save it because I mean, look at the Padres,
17:19the Padres are, you know, fine. They won more games. Right. You know, now here's the difference
17:25though. Not to go on. Yeah. Not to go on to like Aaron judge. So the most pitches in his career in
17:29the strike zone this past year, like not necessarily taking one. So the lineup is like, but it's more
17:35just like judges now out there on his own again. Got one good hitter. Right. So you like, they,
17:40listen, if you have all this money, you're willing to spend on Soto,
17:44create this balanced lineup, like create a real leadoff hitter and get me a first baseman who
17:48isn't like paralyzed, basically as your center fielder, like that graphic, like those guys
17:54aren't playing like trick or shit. Like they're going to get, I think it's me, Cody Bellinger.
17:58I think Cody will be in center, but, um, but like, again, it's not, it's not plan a I truly,
18:04it's just not. I think it also part of it while 800 million certainly did it.
18:07I think part of it was to like, Cohen's not going to stop here. Right. Like you, you guys,
18:11I don't know if you guys get burns or freed, but you'll probably be in on them. Like,
18:16like we'll be very in on them. The Red Sox will be in on them. If the Yankees brought back Soto,
18:21I don't really think they're doing much else here. Sounds like maybe getting a first baseman
18:25or Cody on the chief or trading for a pitcher rather than signing one. Whereas I think he was
18:30Boris sold him was like, Hey dude, they're just going to keep spending because he doesn't give
18:33a fuck. And I think winning matters to him a lot. And if you have an owner like that,
18:39that matters. 800 million short is, is, is big, but, and, and, and realistically the reason,
18:45but I think part of it too was, dude, this guy's out of his mind and he's just going to not stop
18:49until he wins. So last thing before we move on, cause I don't want this to be a 10 hour rundown.
18:52Yeah. I'm sorry guys. I think oddly enough,
18:56older Yankee fans are the ones who are like, recognizing like what, like, there's a problem
19:02here that like, we're not getting these big names. People don't necessarily want to come here
19:05anymore. And it seems like the younger fans are the ones who are like befuddled that you just want
19:10to be in pinstripes, which feels backwards to me. Maybe the older fans are the ones who realize how
19:14different it was between now and then. But the, the, this, like, if you were to ask Juan Soto,
19:19what's monument park, I don't think he would know what it is. I really don't think these guys,
19:23he was born in 98. Like it doesn't matter anymore. And, and there's, it's, it's interesting to see
19:29which group of the fan base is, is realizing that. It sucks that I'm being grouped in with
19:34the old, like I'm considering, bro, you're up there now. I'm 31 in two days. I'm considered
19:39all like, fuck me. Um, but yeah, no, I, I, I pretty much agree. Like there were way too many
19:44positive people leading up to that yesterday. Now grant, I guess they were like, weren't necessarily
19:48in the know and they heard good things from Heyman. But I mean, if you, if you took a step
19:52back and you understood what Cohen's directive here was, they, if this would have taken a shot
19:57in a, like an assassination to get him. So yeah. Congrats to, uh, to Juan Soto for getting Joel
20:04and bead money right now. Guy doesn't even play. No, that's what I mean. It's kind of crazy.
20:07It's you know, it's like, and then when you factor in like what Connor McDavid makes,
20:10it's actually hilarious. Yeah, I know. It's insane. Yeah. All right. Thanks for joining.

21:35our college football correspondent, big T congratulations. Obviously Tennessee in the
21:43playoff will be facing off against Ohio state in an eight nine matchup. How do you feel about
21:47the draw? And, uh, what do you think about the bracket as, as, uh, an overall feature this year?
21:53Uh, I'm excited about Tennessee. I think Ohio state is a mentally broken and fragile football
21:59team. I think our defensive line is one of the best in the country. Their offensive line is very
22:04banged up. I think the matchup is good for us, but, uh, I'm just excited for the 12th team playoff.
22:10I was, and still am in many regards, not the biggest fan of it. Like the system is flawed
22:17tremendously. Um, but it will be fun. Like Indiana, Notre Dame is going to be awesome.
22:24Yep. Uh, Tennessee, Ohio state will be an incredible game like SMU in Penn state.
22:29Yeah. Uh, and then obviously you have the teams with the buys. It'll be fun. So,
22:34yeah. Um, I was with Gruden this weekend and he was saying Tennessee has legit
22:38chance to make a run. Do you think they have legit title chances right now based on this draw?
22:42I mean, like I was talking about with the format, the nine seats, the worst seat to
22:46get in the whole thing. Cause you go on the road in the first round and then you get the
22:50one seat after. So if Tennessee goes on a run, they're beating two of the best teams in the
22:54country, which they can. Um, but like I would trade with the 11 seat in a heartbeat right now.
23:01Like if Tennessee could pick to be 11 or 12. Yeah, for sure. Um, but you're gonna have to
23:08be good teams. So it's, uh, yeah, they're talented enough to make a run for sure.
23:13Yeah. No, the Penn state crowd is very happy with their draw. Um, going against SMU and then
23:17potentially boys in state Penn state lost the only game they played against a really good team in the
23:23regular season, backed into the big 10 championship game, lost that, and then got rewarded with the
23:29best draw in the entire playoff. That was at least a frisky. So, you know, obviously the Ohio state,
23:34that was a very close game. The, the Oregon game this weekend, you know, started off pretty bad,
23:39but they absolutely made it a game late. Uh, they absolutely, if Oregon, which is the number one
23:46overall seat and beat Penn state could switch with Penn state. I think they would do it.
23:53That's a home game against SMU. And then you play Boise state, whereas they're going to play
23:58either Ohio state or Tennessee, which is way worse. True. True. Um, long live the Pac-12 bro.
24:13Yeah. You are on the other side of the bracket as Georgia, which is a, uh,
24:16a great thing in my opinion, but, um, okay. Any other closing thoughts on the college football
24:20play system? Um, no, it'll be fun. Fix the buys, get rid of the, the, the buys should go to the
24:27four best teams. It's nonsense that Arizona state and Boise state have buys, um, at the bare minimum
24:35recede after the first round. Um, but it should be really fun and cool. And, uh, I'm, I'm excited
24:42to watch it. I, we, we just did 30 minutes on Juan Soto. We're doing 90 seconds on, on the playoff.
24:48I don't have much to offer. I'm sorry. I know, I know y'all were going on and I was, I mean,
24:53what are we doing? Why are we even doing this afterwards? Yeah. Um, I hear ya, but, uh, thanks
25:00for hopping on. We're going to top talk NFL very briefly, but I actually really want to talk about
25:05these, uh, baldos that went over to Turkey. Um, especially white dog, Steve being unable to get
25:10Turkish ice cream. That was my favorite clip of the week.
25:19Uh, let's bring on Nikki smokes, um, with his head. Is it, is it better yet or what?
25:27Well, it's good boys. I'm looking clean, but before, before I get into the hair,
25:31I wasn't here for the Soto talk, but KFC, what are we doing here, buddy? You look like you just
25:36woke up from a three-day bender. I thought you'd be in a three-piece suit smoking a cigar pissing
25:40on Yankee fans graves. Like what are we doing? I am feeling a little sick, but also I stayed up
25:45last night till 3.00 AM just fucking tweeting. And I feel like I, I feel like I went out drinking.
25:50I'm too old to be up at 3.00 AM. Hate tweeting the Yankee fans. A good night on Twitter is just
25:55as good as a good night out. I couldn't go to sleep. I was like, I just, I reading more consuming
26:00more re-tweeting hating. I couldn't, I couldn't stop myself. Kevin, we're pretty much when your
26:05team, like win something huge. I love just like, and I don't usually watch like SportsCenter,
26:11but I love just turning on like the talking heads in SportsCenter, just drinking in all the love.
26:17Yeah. It's rare to get those wins. Yes, for sure. But smokes, talk to us about your trip to Turkey.
26:24You guys are now back. I guess it looks okay. Like, it's very hard to tell right now just that
26:29I don't really know what's going to come in. So is that going to be your hairline or is it going to
26:33move down? Like I'm kind of, so that's going to be, that's like the hairline. The real hair will
26:38start to, you'll see my real hair in six months. So right now after day 12, these scabs will come
26:44out and then I can start wearing hats again. And the hair that's in now, like right here is going
26:49to fall back out and then it'll start to regrow after three months. So they say six months,
26:54you'll see like 60% of the results. And then after a year, you'll be a hundred percent and your hair
26:59will just be back in. So right on time for summertime. Summertime, Chicago, baby.
27:05It is the absolute smartest thing you can do if you can afford it or pull it off somehow.
27:10They got a free. That's the best thing. It was free. I didn't even pay for it.
27:13If you have the means one way or the other, do it.
27:15It was fucking awesome. And the trip was sick. By the way, I'm thinking of rebranding.
27:20I'm going to rebrand to Charlie Smokes. I'm a changed man now. Like that Europe trip
27:24changed my perspective on life. I'm more cultured. I'm just I'm moving different.
27:29I'm thinking different. I'm trying to buy assets, you know, like I just have a whole new perspective
27:36on life. I'm no longer Nikki Smokes. I'm leaning towards Charlie Smokes. I'm real.
27:40I'm a changed man now. I'm dressing different, moving different, talking different.
27:45This is a new man you're talking to, Jay. This is no longer Batman symbol hairline, Nikki Smokes.
27:49This is a well-established young man. Well, ready to fucking turn it up.
27:55That might be true, but that's swollen head for a few days.
27:59How would you fly with that? That was nuts.
28:03I didn't have a choice, Jay. They booked the flight. What do you want me to do? Fucking
28:06bum home? Like my flight was set that day. I was flying home that day. There was no way around it.
28:13Now, was that like uncomfortable? Because you were very, please insert the picture of this.
28:16Jay, did you see my face? Yeah.
28:19Like, did you think I was comfortable on that fucking flight?
28:23Yes. So the worst part of the procedure is when they're shooting you up with the anesthesia,
28:28but then they're pumping your head with saline. And I'll show you the pic. I'll also send it to
28:34production so they could throw it up there. My head legitimately looked like a fucking rock.
28:40Let me find this picture to show you. I mean, it is disgusting. If you haven't ate yet,
28:46I won't show you it because of how fucking gross it is.
28:49That was my head. Okay. That's my head. It looks like a perfect cylinder. It looks like
28:58it's in stain. So yeah, my head was just inflated and I got all my work done up top.
29:06So the anesthesia dripped from up here to my forehead. And then you should also production
29:10should put the picture that Eddie posted. He took his head off. He took his head off.
29:15Also production should put the picture that Eddie posted. He took his finger and no joke
29:20went three inches into my head. And there was just a dent. There's just a dent in the middle
29:25of my forehead. And then it went from my forehead to my eyes. And you guys all saw my eyes. I looked
29:31deformed and I was petrified. I can't even believe they let me in through customs. I was like,
29:36there's no way they're going to let me in there be like, this is not the same person.
29:39It was, you know what though? I've always said like going on a bachelor party is fun.
29:43But what's what the best part is afterwards when you have the group text or the email
29:48chain and like everyone keeps talking and all that shit. That is the best not the hair. The
29:52best part is, is the turkey boys, the bald soul boys have like a bond forever. Now I'm so jealous
29:59of that. That's what I was like. We're we're a squad now. Yeah, we went through we went through
30:04the trenches together. We went across the globe together. We conquered we got the objective done.
30:09We learned special Turkish words that now we speak our own lingo now. Now we're just different.
30:14We're all on like a different level. And it's no disrespect to you guys. I don't know the last time
30:19you left the country, but you leave you come back a little, little different sauce, a little bit of
30:23different culture. I don't know. I don't know about you. When's the last time you smoked a
30:25cigarette inside a restaurant? It'll fucking change your life. It'll change your life.
30:30Yeah, it was good for you to like, like you when you shaved your head, you were you were
30:34pretty shocked when White Sox Dave shaved his head. Like he didn't need to do all this. He
30:38just shaved his fucking head. White Sox Dave is the only person in the world who a could go to
30:44Turkey for a transplant find out he looks better bald, but then gets the transplant. He's like,
30:48yeah, I'm just gonna rock a bus cut. Like buddy, you couldn't you couldn't do that the whole time.
30:56But I will say this about Dave. I love him. Like I would travel with him. I like to anywhere like
31:03he was such a good vibe. Like, I know he gets a lot of shit. And look, so do I like we're both
31:08dumb idiots. But like, in terms of traveling with someone, I feel like you find out who someone
31:12really is when you travel with them. There is no better person I'd rather travel with the date he
31:17was just down for whatever good vibes the whole time, ready to drink. Funny inside story. After
31:24surgery, they say don't smoke or drink for 14 days. He was smoking a blunt in Turkey. In Turkey,
31:30it's not even legal there. Two hours after his fucking procedure.
31:35That's like the next like Britney grinder and like, I was gonna say get locked up abroad.
31:42We're trading like, like major terrorists for White Sox. Come back.
31:48We would have got fleeced. We would have never lived it down.
31:51Who had the weirdest quirks on the trip because obviously you guys were in very close quarters.
31:57What do you mean by courts? Like, weirdest things about them either, you know,
32:02sleeping hours or like eating habits or like, okay, um, well, well, none of us could sleep.
32:07We were all jet lagged. So it's actually funny in the group chat, we would all text each other
32:11at like, literally two, three in the morning, who's up, and everyone was still up. Okay, so
32:16Eddie was the odd duck out. Love Eddie, no problem with Eddie, but he was he was beating to his own
32:21drum. He was either going to like the spa by himself getting a foot massage by himself.
32:26The only thing I'm mad about with Eddie is, is he didn't come on the boat with us. And that
32:30was like, oh yeah, that's like when you're like, your team wins a championship and he's not at the
32:37parade. Like that was our parade. Like we all just got new hairlines and Eddie was nowhere to be
32:41found. Yeah. So he had no excuse to not be there, but all in all it was, it was a great trip.
32:49Okay. Um, it's Monday, so we got to talk a little NFL. It was kind of a bad
32:53football slate yesterday. Obviously the chiefs winning with a doink yesterday to clinch the
32:58division. You two, since you guys are both here, let's talk Jets dolphins real quick.
33:02Jets officially eliminated from the playoffs the 14th year in a row. This year has just been a
33:08mess. Kevin, let's talk about that. This is the worst year in franchise history.
33:12Given, given the circum given the expectations, like it's not, you know, rich coat tight. It's
33:17not two and two and 14, whatever, but it's like people talked about winning the Superbowl this
33:22year. Yeah. And honestly, if they were, if they were tanking yesterday, it would make sense,
33:29but we know they're not. We know Aaron Rogers is trying to win games. The fact that they didn't
33:33just fucking run the ball three times, run the clock out and kick a field goal is fucking insane.
33:39I, I, you know, they handed that game and I knew once it went to overtime, I knew exactly what was
33:44going to happen. And that exactly thing that did happen is March right down the field. Uh,
33:49I, it's, it's the worst. It's, I think I like traded, you know, I like sold my soul for the
33:55mess or something like that. Like the jets are just cooked, bro. I'm getting too much good over
33:59here to even expect that anything good will happen with the jets for like the next decade.
34:03Do you want Rogers back? No, no, I didn't want him to begin with, to be honest, I was never really
34:08a Rogers guy. I was like, okay, if he plays like a hall of famer, like he's our best option. But
34:14as soon as it was clear that he wasn't, and I'll be honest, the, the, um, that Achilles really
34:19fucked him. Like who knows what would have happened if he's healthy year one. But once
34:22that happened and once he was sitting out OTAs and once it was like, he's a statue out there,
34:28you know, when he locked himself in a dark room for 30 days to decide if he wanted to play,
34:33I think that's the first red black looking back. It was like, this guy is not focused.
34:39He doesn't care. He's doing it for the money. You know, I'm almost happy now. I was faking it for
34:44a while. Oh, and Roger is the goat. No, he's not. Now I can just be like, goodbye, dude.
34:49Hold a legacy tarnisher to smokes where you stand on the dolphins. They still have a shot
34:53at the playoffs or being the jets yesterday. Yeah. I mean, honestly, KFC and your whole team,
34:58you guys are a bunch of pieces of shit. I really just wanted to be put down.
35:02Like, you know, I, I just, I wanted to be put down schedule wise. This is, this is,
35:07this is what I'm pissed off about because you Che and everyone else is you're not dead. You're not
35:12dead. We are fucking dead. When we got humiliated by green Bay on Thursday night football on
35:18Thanksgiving, when we could have finally put our nuts out and said, Hey, we're a real football team.
35:22We got fucking pummeled. What is the point of us sweeping into the playoffs?
35:26Going to have to go to either Buffalo or Baltimore, which by the way, will be colder than 50 degrees
35:30a temperature. For some reason we can't fucking win in our coaches shaking like he has Parkinson's.
35:35And when it's 25 degrees out, there's no point. I don't want to get humiliated in the first round
35:39again. Will I be happy if we make the playoffs? Sure. But it's going to be the same fucking thing.
35:43It's just going to be another year with no playoffs. I'd rather be dead. And I'd rather
35:46people get fired. I want people fired. I don't want this first round. Oh, we made it. And then
35:51lose again. I want people fired. I want change. I'm tired of being a fucking loser. The worst
35:57thing you could be in the NFL is anything to just get into the playoffs. I just want to see
36:03I was, I've been in the playoffs the last two years and I've got fucking smoke. This team is
36:06no different. If I saw something different with this team, if they beat green Bay, I would be
36:10twerking for the playoffs. Cause then I believe that we could go into the cold and we could beat
36:14a good team. What like, what makes you think, Oh, we're just going to flip the switch in the
36:17playoffs and go into Buffalo or Baltimore and win a game. There's no fucking shot.
36:23That's how the NFL works, man. The team that wins always gets super hot in December. I'm just
36:27saying you you're not eliminated from that yet. And until I had zero hope, I would not give up.
36:32Okay. Well, we still have Houston. We still have the 49ers. We have the jets again,
36:35and we have the Browns. So we have basically two tough games out of the last four,
36:41but you basically have to win out and pray for other teams to lose at this point. Anyway, I,
36:47all I'm saying is I wish I was just dead and can officially move on. Cause that's where I was at.
36:51Jets went up 2315. I was dead inside. I was like, Oh, I'm content. You know, it hurts a little bit,
36:56but at least I'm dead. I was like, this team is so far from over. They're not going to win this
37:00game. Crazy. Here's my plan, by the way, for the jets. Yeah. I think they should sign Mike,
37:06Mike Rabel and give him an obscenely long contract. I don't care what the money is.
37:13It's more about here is and make him like one of those coach GMs. If it's not officially that,
37:19like he has a lot of power and led like the first few years just work on culture and bad penalties
37:27and erasing turnovers and making sure everyone shows up for OTAs and crack all of that dumb
37:32shit. Like the jets are so far from actually winning that it's like, take the first three
37:37or four years to be Mike Rabel. Who's like bigger and tougher than half the guys who are active
37:41and just established that you're not a joke of a team before you even start to worry about trying
37:46to win the division, trying to win a super bowl. You got it. Like they're just going to do this
37:50thing with four year cycles of coaches forever until they change something actually tangible
37:57and make it be like, don't worry if you don't win in the first four years,
38:00it's okay. Cause we got six more. We gave you a 10 year deal. You're our guy.
38:04Yeah. Um, let's briefly talk about the chiefs run of dominance, nine straight division titles.
38:11Do you want me to hop off? No, no, stay, stay on this. You're brought up all stuff. Um,
38:16what do you think about the chiefs? Last second, when do we get it in for the division with a
38:21backup kicker, they're the luckiest scums to ever walk the face of the earth. I mean,
38:26they can't keep getting away with this. Yes. Insane, which is also a huge sign for decline
38:32next year. I'm just putting that out there. If this team wins the super bowl,
38:36they worship the devil. That's where I'm at right now. Like this team should not be 11 and one.
38:41I get that logic, but also isn't there something like, like I heard Hank being like, this team has
38:48black magic. They worship the devil. Like that's what we used to say about the Patriots and like
38:53teams that just always win. And I know there's a lot of luck and, and they're squeaking by,
38:57but it's like, in a way, I'm almost more impressed with this team in a way. I know they're not
39:02playing well, but it's like, they win with special teams. They can stop you on defense
39:06between the game. They can score when they need to at the end. Like they just win even when they
39:10don't have their best stuff, which I think is kind of the sign of, of the best team of all.
39:14I thought it was an interesting, they're only going to press a post game from Chris Jones,
39:18where he was like, where they're asking, like, you've won 10, one score games. Like,
39:21are you guys like not that good? And he was, he was basically like, well, in the playoffs,
39:26all the games are going to be closed for that. Yeah. And they only get better in the playoffs.
39:31Like even last year when they won the Super Bowl, they looked horrible in the regular season. And
39:34then they just, they just did what they did. Yeah. All right. Thanks smokes. KFC,
39:39any, anything for a post show? I don't think so. I mean, surviving is cooking and it sounds like
39:47we have not even seen, you know, I was looking, I was thinking back on our season Shay and I
39:52should have just, I mean, obviously hindsight, but I should have just said, I forgive you for
39:55being a fucking idiot. Let's get back together with our, our original plan. I tried to tell you.
40:01Yeah, but you, yeah, I know. But yeah, but the trust was broken. I know, but yeah, you had,
40:08you had the dreams of you fights and we'll go on a vacation together. I couldn't, I couldn't
40:12get those. No, it was not. Yeah. I was playing. I said, when you play with your heart, not with
40:17your head, you lose. And that's what happened. But it's crazy that I think there's already been
40:20enough entertainment. People are already loving it. And you know, everyone who was there,
40:24it's like, I heard them talking about it on a names where it's like, it hasn't even started yet,
40:28but like from a view perspective, full transparency, I don't know what happens at all.
40:32So I'm kind of like with the twists and the turns and all that stuff. And it's been like,
40:37very exciting. I'm fully caught up. Are you fully caught up? Yeah. Yeah. Okay. Yeah. So just seeing
40:42like, I think the way all the boats and so shout out to like our editors that have done this,
40:46because it's like, Oh shit. Like I didn't see like that person getting limited until like
40:51minutes before it happened is even like a possibility. So yeah, no, they do a great
40:55job with it. And it sounds like it gets way messier. Dave has said, like, I hope the company
41:01standing after this air. So we will see it's back tomorrow, I believe. Right.
41:08I think, I think it's Tuesday. So yeah, I think, I think it's Tuesday. So tune in for that.
41:13That is the rundown congrats again to KFC and all Mets fans on the Juan Soto news.
41:18I'm Steven Shea. This is the rundown for December 9th.
