Putrajaya hopes to finalise the “report” on the separation of powers between the Attorney General (AG) and the public prosecutor as soon as possible next year, says M. Kulasegaran.   The Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Law and Institutional Reforms) made this statement after a government backbencher questioned why it has taken two years for the government to conduct studies on the process. 01:20However, the empirical study needs to be done.

01:31Because we need to have discussions with stakeholders, NGOs.

01:36Often times, several NGOs come to get explanations and so on.

01:41Other than that, we also have selective authorities.

01:46Therefore, it takes time.

01:47However, in the end, the government believes that at least next year,

01:54this matter will be resolved.

02:01And Mr Romah is welcome to go abroad and pay his own money.

02:07Regarding the separation between the judges and the judges,

02:12what I see is to avoid conflict of interest

03:22and strengthen the justice system in our country.
