Well it's not long finished at the Hawthorns, Albion 2, new championship leaders Sheffield
00:06
United 2 in yet another draw involving the Baggies, that's now 10 in their last 11 games
00:12
and if, I mean I haven't looked really for the depths of English football history but
00:16
if anyone can find me a run similar, 10 in 11 draws, I mean please do because it feels
00:22
like an absolute bonkers sequence of results at the minute for the Baggies and obviously
00:27
draws are what nobody, certainly Carlos Corbijn wants to see but context of today, obviously
00:34
Albion were playing at the side, at the top of the table who have with today's point gone
00:38
back to the top of the pile and a really tough game against Sheffield United, yes they were
00:44
missing a couple of centre halves to visitors but still had a top side packed with attacking
00:47
talent and look today's draw, the bottom line and the headline from today's draw is it's
00:54
an improved, of those 10 draws, of those too many draws we've seen this season there
00:58
have been plenty lacking in sort of inspiration, attacking intent but not today, today was
01:05
much much improved, front foot Albion showing a willingness to get forward, I thought from
01:13
an attacking perspective, Mikey Johnson one side, of course a summit Sheffield United
01:17
target and Tom Fellows on the other flank were the stars of the show for the Baggies,
01:22
they led the way in terms of the creativity, the intent, Fellows got his first goal of
01:27
the season with the second half equalised, that heavily deflected, owed a lot to fortune
01:31
yes but Johnson was possibly his best display of the season actually since signing for Albion
01:36
permanently for £3m in the summer, as I say the Blades and Chris Wilder did want him as
01:40
well so I thought he might have the bit between his teeth today Johnson and that proved but
01:45
I think overall Albion deserve to win this if a side did, I think they edged it and that
01:50
says a lot, the crowd really responded and reacted to it today and as well they might,
01:55
I think really it's only a crazy two minute period in the first half that it's done for
02:01
Carlos Goran's side really, Albion deservedly led through Torbjörn Higgins, first goal
02:05
for the club, great moment, headed in from a moat corner, down in front of us here at
02:10
the Semifinal again, great moment as I say and that was sort of 25 minutes in, Albion
02:15
had been utterly dominant, thoroughly deserved a goal, you wondered if it would come but
02:19
then 10 minutes before the break the Blades equalised and it sort of knocked the stuffing
02:26
out of Albion truth be told, maybe it shouldn't have but Callum O'Hare, former Villa, former
02:31
Coventry man on hand to prod home, bit of misfortune for Albion really as a Hegham clearance
02:37
from a Boroughs cross hit Bartley and it was perfect for O'Hare to prod in and ok you take
02:42
your medicine, Albion should, no way should they have allowed what happened 120 seconds
02:48
later to happen as the Blades made it 2-1 going into half time, it was Hegham for all
02:53
the acclaim for the goal, he lost it from the left side of Albion's defence, he played
02:58
a poor ball out into no man's land in midfield really and I think it was Hegham for Sheffield
03:03
United, again fed very impressive left back Boroughs whose low cross was turned in by
03:08
Tyrese Campbell, 2-1, half time deficit and it wasn't deserved, Albion were so much the
03:13
better side for that 30-35 minutes but maybe that's why the Blades are top of the table,
03:18
they're able to take their moment and why Albion are struggling for wins but it didn't
03:22
lick their wounds and feel sorry for themselves in the second half, they got back on the front
03:26
foot to their credit and the equaliser was deserved on the balance of the play overall
03:31
as I say, Fellows bagged it just after the hour, he cut in on his left and heavily, heavily
03:36
deflected off Hamer and looped into the top corner somehow, it went so high into this
03:41
that it almost looked like it was going to fly into the top tier of the Brummie but thankfully
03:46
it looped into that far top corner beyond Keeper Michael Cooper, 2-2 and it was Albion
03:51
for the final sort of 20-25 minutes of the game really that were the most likely to score
03:56
a third, were on the front foot most and if anyone was going to get a winner it felt like
04:00
it was going to be the baggage but not to be, again not that quality or strength or
04:04
depth off the bench for Corbyn really to turn to but interesting 11 today, there were three
04:10
changes, it was a starting line-up that most wanted to see, one that we predicted and one
04:15
I think most on paper or full stock would say is Albion's strongest at the moment and
04:19
they delivered, it was the first time they've been used up this season that 11 so promise
04:22
really there in that regard, I will wrap this up now because I'm about to go into Carlos
04:26
Corbijn's press conference, hope to see more of that 11 to come I think in the coming days
04:31
certainly, coming games sorry but in the coming days it is Coventry City of course, now Frank
04:36
Lampard's Coventry City as we know, we got a very impressive win at Millwall yesterday
04:41
and the Hawthorns on Wednesday night so a very quick turnaround, another game here,
04:46
it needs to snap this win of, this run of very few wins and 10 draws in 11, it's only
04:52
one win in 13 now which everyone knows about, least of all the head coach and hopefully
04:57
that can be put right on Wednesday, we'll have all the reaction, response, report, video
05:01
footage from today so stay tuned ExpressSR.com
