00:00
And the top of the NFC market almost saw a big shift with the Thursday night game between
00:05
the Detroit Lions and the Green Bay Packers.
00:08
We were following your Super Bowl outright odds on our in-game coverage where we saw
00:13
the Detroit number starting to fall in games where, or in spots where the Packers were
00:18
favored to win that game.
00:20
Detroit currently sitting at plus 270, at some points they saw plus 320 and plus 350,
00:25
so we know that that was a moving number.
00:28
Can't hold serve, though, in the game, and they now sit at plus 130 to win the conference.
00:34
It is the Eagles, though, who are the second choice right now, Donny, at plus 250.
00:37
Yeah, and I liked it where the Eagles are going, and I'm still gonna stick to it here.
00:41
Even though we had a close game, you watched the Green Bay Packers and the Detroit Lions
00:44
play massive win by the Lions, which they deserve to be favorites, but I always said
00:48
if the Philadelphia Eagles were to go into Baltimore and win that game, it looks like
00:51
there's a legitimate chance the Eagles would run the table the rest of the way out, and
00:54
Detroit may take a loss to be able to put them back into that spot.
00:57
I'll tell you what is interesting, though, is how much they are figuring, Joe, between
01:01
the Lions and the Eagles.
01:02
Plus 270 to 5-1, you say, well, that's a decent little gap, but that's two NFC teams up top.
01:06
Now, granted, you have the Buffalo Bills also at a 5-1 price, but typically how that market
01:11
would go is Lions would be the favorite, then you would have to put the AFC favorite in
01:15
because in order to get to the Super Bowl, those two teams have to play each other, being
01:18
the Eagles and the Lions.
01:19
So I show that as a testament to how much they're looking at the Eagles like, yo, this
01:23
team is legitimate to make a run.
01:25
Absolutely.
01:26
They win two games by an average margin of 14 points per game, two touchdowns.
01:29
I mean, they win today like we expect them, nine straight, be the hottest team in terms
01:33
of the NFL.
01:34
And think about Detroit in terms of their schedule.
01:36
They still have to play the Bills.
01:38
They still have to play the Vikings, who's to say they don't drop both of those games
01:41
and all of a sudden the Eagles have the number one seed in terms of the conference.
01:45
You can never say never.
01:46
I think the Eagles right now, to me, are peaking defensively, obviously.
01:50
That was the cause of concern early on in the season.
01:53
We've seen the rushing attack with Saquon Barkley, now Jalen Hurts, now attacking defenses
01:58
over the top.
01:59
I mean, they're going to be a tough out the rest of the way.
02:01
I mean, can Detroit maintain this from wire to wire is the biggest question.
02:07
Can they do it?
02:08
They've done a great job up until this point, but if we're talking margins, they haven't
02:11
covered now the last two games, is it starting to potentially unravel?
02:15
I'm not suggesting they lose games, but maybe one or two where the Eagles can catch them.
02:20
The thing for Detroit, if they lose a game next week to Buffalo, I don't think they're,
02:26
I mean, it'll be like, ah, defenses catching up, you're falling in seeding, I get that.
02:31
Philly's in a unique spot and it's a troubling one.
02:37
People might disagree, but there is not a game remaining on the Eagles' schedule that
02:42
they can lose where you won't go, ooh, what's wrong?
02:47
Today they lose.
02:48
Oh, wow, okay.
02:49
This team shot, Sirianni's done it.
02:50
15-1 the Super Bowl.
02:51
I'll tell you, let me tell you this, because I heard it when I was there, and I know you
02:56
listened to like the WPI, they lose to Carolina today, Sirianni actually might not make it
03:01
next week.
03:02
Dylan Hurst, does he survive the cuts in the offseason coming up?
03:05
If they lose the following game at home to Pittsburgh, people will be really frustrated
03:10
by that.
03:11
Okay, maybe not as crazy, but like the way that they'll be rolling, you don't want to
03:14
lose a game at home.
03:15
It's followed up by going to Washington.
03:17
We've seen what's been going on with the Commanders, and then the final two games are
03:21
the Cowboys at home, and the Giants at home.
03:24
So all of a sudden, the Eagles' options are win 13 games in a row, or we're going to smash
03:33
the panic button with a sledgehammer multiple times.
03:38
And it's a lot to ask a team to win 13 games in a row.
03:42
It just is.
03:43
It is.
03:44
It's almost like we talk about the New York market, right?
03:46
And Philly's that way as well, especially since you made it to a Super Bowl a couple
03:50
of years ago and had Pat Mahomes on the ropes, right?
03:53
Everybody thought it would be last year, 10-1, you fall off a cliff, you finish the regular
03:58
season 1-5, get blown out by Baker.
04:01
Now the expectation now with Vic Fangio, Kellen Moore in that offense where they were supposed
04:05
to take off.
04:06
Saquon has been every bit of the player that you thought when you acquired him.
04:10
So there is no excuse anymore.
04:12
But I mean, you have to temper it a little.
04:15
I mean, if they win 9 straight, 10 straight, and then lose one game, as a gambling perspective,
04:21
I think you would take that.
04:22
You don't want them to go 13-0 and then lose the first round of the playoffs.
04:26
Red, red, red, red, red.
04:27
It's going to lay there.
04:28
The Blacks got to get in there right on the roulette table.
04:31
So as you play it out, you're right about that.
04:32
It's also a matter of who you lose to.
04:34
The Lions, I guess, technically can afford a loss to the Buffalo Bills, but then still
04:38
need to beat the Minnesota Vikings and still have tie-breaking advantages over certain
04:41
teams.
04:42
This is what makes it so crazy.
04:43
I want to point it out.
04:44
Before we even watched that primetime game last week, I think it was down to minus 400
04:48
as a price for the division for Detroit.
04:50
Down from 700.
04:51
I believe it was over 1,000 or minus 1,100 now after that victory, and there's still
04:55
only one game ahead of Minnesota.
04:57
Wild.
