The 37th edition of the Sharjah International Book Fair started on Wednesday with a message
00:15
of peace for all humanity and a celebration of culture.
00:19
His Highness Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, member of the Supreme Council and
00:25
ruler of Sharjah, inaugurated the fair, its biggest edition so far.
00:30
The 11-day fair, with a collection of more than 20 million books, is running at the Expo
00:35
Center in Sharjah.
00:37
US President Donald Trump has said that no constitutional amendment was required to do
00:43
away with the birthright citizenship.
00:46
Trump claimed that this could be done with an executive order bringing his tough stance
00:50
on immigration ahead of the crucial midterm elections next Tuesday.
00:55
In his latest hardline immigration rhetoric, Trump had said he wanted an executive order
01:00
to deny automatic citizenship to children born of non-American parents in the US.
01:06
You don't need a constitutional amendment.
01:09
I believe that you can have a simple vote in Congress or through an executive order,
01:14
he told reporters at the White House.
01:17
Harvey Weinstein has blasted a new accusation that he sexually harassed and assaulted a
01:23
16-year-old aspiring model more than 15 years ago.
01:27
His attorney called the allegation preposterous.
01:30
The accusation came in a new complaint filed in New York by the anonymous accuser identified
01:36
only as Jane Doe.
01:38
She is part of a growing federal class-action lawsuit against Weinstein, which now comprises
01:44
10 women who have accused the Oscar-winning producer of sexual misconduct.
01:50
The new accuser claims that Weinstein lured her to his New York apartment in 2002 and
01:56
made unwanted sexual advances.
01:59
And finally, the weather.
02:00
Today's high across the UAE will be 32 degrees Celsius, dropping to 26 degrees at night.
02:05
That's all for now.
02:06
Thanks for watching.
02:08
We will be back with the newscast on Sunday.
