Crystal Palace 2-2 Man City: Post-match reaction

Michael Plant gives his thoughts after Manchester City drop points once again in the Premier League.

00:00Crystal Palace 2 Manchester City 2 here at a very very windy Selhouse Park I

00:05think a disappointing result really compared to what I owe the side certainly would

00:09have come here hoping to build on that win against Nottingham Forest last time

00:12out but Palace were probably fully deserves a point from this game I

00:16thought that for a long spells they defended really well hit City with a

00:19couple of dangerous attacks and ultimately City's fragilities I think

00:22came before once again they defensively just make so many mistakes I thought the

00:27passing was a bit slack too many times they give the ball away and ultimately a

00:33performance that Pep Guardiola I don't think will be particularly happy with I

00:37think this is a result that City a game that last season City would have come

00:41here and won I think they'd have come away with three points in this but

00:43they're just not the same levels at the moment they are struggling obviously in

00:46terms of injuries I mean you look to the bench today beforehand you know Jack

00:49Grealish and Jeremy Doku were the only two players that really Guardiola could

00:52call upon to make a change to the game and Guardiola even reveal that just in his

00:57press conference that Jack Grealish isn't at 100% fitness at the

01:00moment as well he was feeling a bit tired ahead of the game so that's why he

01:04dropped out of the team and yeah ultimately as well I think that the

01:07certain players maybe aren't hitting the same sort of standards and levels I think

01:10we've seen that over the last couple of weeks but that was another example today

01:12I mean Kyle Walker a fall for two goals I thought and just in general playing so

01:17poorly at the moment I think Josco Guardiola his confidence is a little bit

01:21shaken as well okay Gündogan is having a huge impact on matches Sabine Newt

01:24didn't today as well and then Rico Lewis a bit of an all-performance from him got

01:28a goal later on he lost a goal against Crystal Palace scored all three of his

01:31Premier League goals against Crystal Palace bizarrely but was sent off for a

01:35bit of a an erratic maybe a bit of a mindless challenge at the end you know

01:41it wasn't I think he he was ready on a booking to jump into a tackle like that

01:44was probably not the most sensible thing even if the red card was a bit harsh but

01:47look old me I think it's a game that City you know if City we're gonna try

01:51and get themselves back in the tight race of course Liverpool not playing

01:53this weekend as well it was an opportunity to the very least close that

01:56gap albeit Liverpool would have still had a game in hand they've not been able to do

01:59that because at this moment they're not able to play to the same levels that

02:03we've seen over the last four years and you know it's a performance I think that

02:07underlines why it's gonna be difficult for City to force the way back into the

02:10title race
