Bryce Dallas Howard shares what she's learned from the women in her community on the carpet at THR's Women in Entertainment breakfast.

00:03You do too.

00:04Oh, thank you.

00:05I was like, it's very early for us to be this glammed up.

00:06Yes.

00:07Yes.

00:08But it's fun because this morning I got my makeup done by a woman I've worked with for

00:14over 15 years.

00:15Oh, gosh.

00:16Over that, actually, because I met her before my son was born, and he's almost 18, so almost

00:2120 years now.

00:24And we do movies together.

00:26And it was very early.

00:27And she was like, yeah, it's like we're on a movie set.

00:30It's like we're actually going to work or something.

00:32And so this is not so unusual.

00:38And it's really fun to kind of get into that mode and start the day this way.

00:43And we're, of course, celebrating all these incredible women in one room.

00:47I wanted to ask you, what is one piece of advice that you've gotten from a fellow woman

00:51in entertainment that really stuck with you?

00:56My gosh.

00:57I'll just start with, I have never encountered a woman in this industry, someone who identifies

01:08as female in this industry, who has not been completely supportive.

01:12Like, you know, this idea of sort of competition or anything like that.

01:18Never encountered it.

01:19Not in my entire life.

01:20I'm 43 years old.

01:22And certainly not in my entire career.

01:25And I think that more than any piece of advice, I think it's the modeling of community that

01:36I've seen again and again and again from actors who are a generation above me, two generations

01:43above me, that has really stood out to me.

01:46Like Laura Dern, for example, talks about her mom and everything that she was doing

01:52within her community of peers, supporting one another as producers and creators.

01:59And you know, that is, like, we're female.

02:04We know how to commune.

02:05Maybe not because we're female solely, but culturally, biologically, whatever it is,

02:11whatever has led us to this place, there is something very powerful about female-identifying

02:18individuals coming together and connecting and dreaming, you know, just dreaming.

02:25And I would say that's the example that I've seen again and again and again.

02:29You know, individuals who dream bigger and bring others along with them on the ride.

02:36So, yeah.

02:37Well, speaking of that sisterhood and female empowerment, you know, a female-led performance

02:41everyone has not been able to stop talking about is Wicked.

02:44Did you get a chance to watch it?

02:46I have not watched Wicked yet.

02:47It is not my fault.

02:49I have been told I have to wait to watch it with my daughter.

02:53And so, and she was sick last week, and so I couldn't bring her to the theater.

02:59But we're going to be going.

03:00We're going to be going this weekend.

03:01I'm really, really, really, really excited.

03:03So emotional.

03:04Yeah.

03:05My husband and son went.

03:06I had to stay home with my daughter, but yeah, they went opening night and just absolutely

03:14lost it.

03:15It was just, you know, a revelation and a triumph and exactly what we want to be making

03:23in, you know, in the entertainment industry today.
