South Korean President Yun Seok-yol declared a martial law against their country,
00:07
but he also changed it after a few hours.
00:10
Our Mambabatas have different reactions to this.
00:14
This is what Gab Veliega has to say.
00:18
Many were surprised by the declaration of South Korean President Yun Seok-yol of emergency martial law
00:24
through the unannounced late-night address of this Tuesday.
00:28
President Yun's reason is the support of North Korea in the activities of the main opposition of the country.
00:34
He did not give details on how the martial law will be implemented.
00:38
But in a statement of the martial law commander,
00:41
he said that all kinds of political activities in the country are prohibited,
00:46
including the National Assembly.
00:48
All media and publications are under the control of their martial law commander.
00:53
The leader of the opposition called the declaration of President Yun illegal.
00:58
The National Assembly voted and passed a resolution
01:01
that the declaration of emergency martial law will be without a visa.
01:05
Out of 190, over 300 Mambabatas are in favor of lifting the declaration.
01:11
That's why this morning, the martial law was formally lifted in South Korea.
01:15
Meanwhile, the United States is now monitoring the situation in South Korea
01:20
according to a senior U.S. official.
01:22
And it is expected that South Korea will follow the rule of law.
01:25
In the new Philippines now,
01:27
Foreign Affairs Undersecretary Eduardo Dibega explained
01:30
that tensions between North and South Korea are normal.
01:34
It is not scary that there is tension.
01:37
Because there is always tension between North and South Korea.
01:44
Or sometimes, there is political tension between political rivals in Seoul.
01:51
So, it is normal for Filipinos.
01:55
We haven't done anything illegal or prohibitive to travelers in South Korea.
02:03
We are not telling you not to go there.
02:07
But you need to understand that in South Korea,
02:13
the politics are like that.
02:15
There is always something that can happen at any moment.
02:18
So, you need to get used to it.
02:21
Maybe, because of the tensions,
02:25
because a tourist always goes to the border in North Korea.
02:30
It is close to Seoul.
02:32
It is also called DMZ, the military zone.
02:36
Sometimes, it is closed.
02:38
Sometimes, you can't go near the tourists.
02:41
So, that is one of their plans.
02:44
But there is no reason to cancel the trip.
02:47
It is not allowed.
02:49
But you need to understand that there is tension in South Korea
02:54
because of the political situation.
02:56
In the interview of Radio Pilipinas,
02:58
Philippine Ambassador to South Korea Maria Teresa Dizon de Vega said
03:02
that our countrymen are in a good condition
03:05
and the movement of Filipinos there remains normal.
03:08
Don't worry too much because our countrymen are okay here.
03:13
There is no chaos on the streets.
03:17
The traffic is going straight.
03:19
People are also moving around.
03:22
We are in good health.
03:25
Our lines of communication are always open.
03:29
We have emergency numbers and other forms of communication.
03:33
If our countrymen have problems or challenges,
03:37
they can contact us right away.
03:40
But for now, as I said earlier,
03:43
we are in Embahada, business as usual.
03:45
We are open for regular operations.
03:48
The Filipinos who are in Socor were asked to remain calm and obey the order.
03:54
In 1980, the last time South Korea was under military rule.
