00:00I raised the issue of cancer last week with the Cabinet Secretary

00:05and I agreed that it was important in the performance

00:09and said that the debate was moving from place to place.

00:13It is therefore obvious that there is a problem in what is happening in particular.

00:17There are two issues in my view.

00:19One MP has come in saying that he is staying seven weeks for a mammogram,

00:24another MP is staying for cancer treatment of the throat

00:28and another MP is staying 24 weeks for a mammogram.

00:32Of course, the primary diagnosis is significant,

00:35but it is significant in order to be able to get a mammogram for the health service.

00:38So, does the Prime Minister think that it is acceptable

00:41that people are allowed to stay even for a mammogram

00:45and why is there a postcode lottery among areas in Wales

00:49for a diagnosis and a mammogram?

00:52Well, thank you very much, Member.

00:53Because Betsi said that it was particularly good

00:56compared to other health boards in Wales,

00:59so it is a shame that they have gone back.

01:03Perhaps they have not gone back,

01:04it is just that they have not been able to keep up

01:08with the demand that has been created so much over the past few years.

01:14But, as I say, what has happened is that they are now, I think,

01:18improving the situation.

01:20Just in terms of, for example, dermatology,

01:22two clinical leads have been selected,

01:25but recently there was a problem,

01:27especially in the north-east in your area,

01:30where everyone was dependent on one consultant.

01:34And, of course, that creates a system that is not very robust.

01:38So, things are improving, there is a clear path,

01:42but it is obvious that the Government

01:46that has a responsibility beyond that will keep a close eye on us.
