00:00Well, for the moment, nobody is elected, not a single deputy member

00:04of Parliament. Counting usually happening here behind me, those

00:10counting are on a little break. But there is no doubt that here behind

00:14me in Dublin Central constituency, a key constituency in this country,

00:18Marylou MacDonald will be the first one to be elected, probably topping

00:23the poll. Her party, Sinn Féin, on the Nationalist left, has a very

00:28narrow majority at the moment, but could win the popular vote. Now,

00:34it is very unlikely to be able to have enough members of Parliament

00:39to be able to form a government. They did not the last time around,

00:43and they have less votes this time. So it is very unlikely they will be

00:47able to go into government, which was very much their wish. On the

00:52other hand, Fianna Fáil, one of the outgoing parties that were in

00:59government for the last five years, could be there with not enough

01:04members of Parliament to form alone a government, but to go back into

01:08government, sharing with their coalition partners of Fianna Fáil,

01:12the party of the outgoing T-shirt Prime Minister Simon Harris. If you

01:17look at the last opinion polls during the vote yesterday, the man who

01:24was seen to be the most, you know, the favourite to be T-shirt Prime

01:29Minister was Micheal Martin, head of Fianna Fáil. This is very much

01:34where we are going. As you mentioned, the key issue in this election was

01:40the housing crisis. One economist described the situation here as

01:44Ireland is a rich country, but people feel poor because there is an

01:49infrastructure problem. In fact, experts say this country needs at

01:54least 250,000 new houses built every decade. Now, the outgoing

02:00coalition, Simon Harris, the T-shirt Prime Minister has told us, he would

02:06like to build over 300,000 houses in the next five years. Will that be

02:11possible? He will certainly be judged on this promise, whether him or his

02:17coalition partner are able to deliver that. But definitely, the

02:21cost of living is, you know, one of the key problems in this country. And

02:28you mentioned immigration. One out of five people working in this

02:32country comes from abroad. And that also shows that the country is

02:37changing. Just very quickly, one far-right independent candidate

02:42could be elected. What can you tell us about him? Yes, well, it's going

02:49to happen again in this constituency here behind me. And this man, Jerry

02:54the Monk Hutch, is described by Simon Harris, the Prime Minister, as a

02:59criminal. He is the head of a gang. And he is on bail, currently on bail,

03:08of a money laundering charge with organised crime in Spain. And he is

03:14very likely, despite his almost lack of campaign, to be elected. This is

03:19a man who has millions of followers on TikTok. This is a man who stood on

03:23an anti-immigration ticket. And that's the key. You now have far-right

03:28extremists, including criminals. This will be the first time ever anybody

03:32here in this country is elected to Parliament on an anti-immigration

03:36ticket. And the first time the head of a crime family is indeed elected. So

03:40you have a bit of Trumpism, populism in this country. And this is now

03:44becoming clearly visible.
